Post#1 » by Whateva » Mon Jun 23, 2008 3:48 pm

The greek team Olympiakos is offering $30 millions for 3 years , for play back in Euroleague.
the greek are willing to pay the extra few millions to waive him from his contract.

That's kind of interesting... $10M net a year for Parker? Don't see why he'd stay if that's a real offer.

Wow. If I was in Anthony's situation, I'd take it. But I have a feeling that he likes it down here plus he seems to prefer the competition. I say he stays put.

If he wants to go, isn't he still under contract with the raptors so wouldn't he have to get their permission to let him out of his contract?

Btw this guy has really grown on me, I love his game, his jumpshot is so smoothe and really a beauty. He filled in great with the raptors, I would like to see him stay, he was a good story, went overseas after hard first time in the nba and then came back and proved to be a baller...he should take the money and sail in the sunset

10m per year? Is this real! Wow, only soccer superstars make that much money in Europe.

That seems like way too much money for him, but if it's a real offer? More power to him. He should take it.

I’m a huge fan and it hurts to say anything bad about the guy… he’s an ultimate glue guy, but lets face it age is catching up to him and it was very evident this season.

TheOutlaw, don't forget that before he left for the NBA, he did pretty much nothing but win. The Israeli domestic championship, the Israeli National Cup and the Suproleague cup as a rookie, a couple of Euroleague titles (more of the domestion championships and National Cups, too)...

Super League MVP and Euroleague Final Four MVP in 2004, as well as Euroleague MVP and first team All-Euroleague in 2005. Euroleague MVP in 2006.

This is a premier Euroleague player we're discussing, so the salary isn't all that surprising.

Parker said :

Olympiacos is interested in Raptors guard Anthony Parker. "Its still too early to say anything. I have Olympiacos' offer in my mind, but I still belong to the Raptors so its not easy," Parker says.

And that is exactly the point. Parker, Navarro are big names in European basketball who have shown that they can play there. Their names mean something. Teams wouldn't spend such big money on an average 10-12PPG NBA shooting guard.

Reports are he was offered $24 million NET salary for 3 years originally, however there are also reports that Panathinaikos will try to buy out Luis Scola's remaining NBA deal and give hime $30 million NET salary for 3 years.

Because of that it is said Parker would get $30 million NET if Panathinaikos can get Scola.

Everyone laughing at my post on this topic looks foolish now. NBA fans have NO IDEA how rich these big Euroleague clubs are, none at all.

Actually Olympiakos offers 24$ for 3 years. Sources are all greek websites.

I don't think panathinaikos is really interested in Parker, they are just tryin to ruin the few possibilities olympiakos has to make the deal.
