Probably the Bulls post-dynasty. Those teams were horrible. Last season, I don't know what happened though.

They could probably have swung both trades anyways.

Bulls. They just never were any good the years they got top 3 picks.

Off the top of my head, scratch Miami (2008), Memphis (2007), Boston (2007), San Antonio (1997).

Maybe the Hornets tanked in 2005, but Baron did only start 13 games. Of course, a transition from the eastern conference to the western conference could be worth a .500 team going to the worst in the L. Chris Paul was a nice reward. That offseason they traded Baron, and David West came off the bench as runner-up for MIP. His minutes went from 18 the year before to 34 the next. So maybe they were burying him on the bench late in the season to fish for a better pick.

I think Miami tanked last season. I think Boston and Memphis tanked the year before. Karma. Notice how the teams that try hard and still suck win the Lottery. The teams that lose on purpose always get passed up in the lottery.

I think eventually teams like the Bucks and the Knicks just give up. They try hard. But that losing wears on them. They will both be better this season.

It would have to be a really young team that hasn't been given the opportunity to tank.

Maybe the Bobcats or the New Hornets.. although someone in this thread said they might of done so for Paul.

Old teams like Knick,Celts,Lakers,Pistons must of done it multiple times by this day.

Jerry Sloan didn't tank for the Lebron draft, he certainly didn't for the one year they were near the bottom of the league. Both years the Jazz were the last team out of the playoffs people were pissed he didn't tank.

No team has ever tanked. Tanking is a fictional concept made up by the media to rip bad teams at the end of the season for looking at younger players, giving them experience, instead of playing the guys everyone knows. It's the media's ripping of teams for doing what's best for their teams instead of what's best for media ratings.

Jazz have not tanked in my basketball-fandom lifetime. 1 losing season in 20-something years?

(Couldn't tell you whether or not they ever tanked before that, though.)

I believed this until I saw what the Heat did this year. They were already playing poorly, but once Zo went down, all hell broke loose. Shaq decided to get the hell out of town because he no longer had a decent center to put in work while he took half the season off. The Heat couldn't win a game and suddenly Wade's injuries resurfaced. Wade and Marion I believe rode the pine toward the end of the season while Riley was out flirting with draft picks. I do believe that 99% of the time, a team just sucks and people use "tanking" as an excuse, but the Heat made me real suspicious this year. And what's unfair is that they actually landed a great pick while a team like the Grizzlies who actually fought to win every game is rewarded with the 5th pick.

in 2005 the lakers went 2-19 in their last 21 games with a healthy kobe bryant and got themselves a top ten pick....andrew bynum.

they were 32-29 and finished 34-48.

^^ Yeah lakers tanked to get the 10th overall pick. They were also coachless btw. But yeah, that's the closest "I've" seen the lakers tanking. Wasn't pretty.
