The big question is whether there is any protection because the Clippers will be right back here next year.

Obviously a good move for the Sonics. They invest even further in their future...good f**king move.

The Clippers must be forcing McHale's hand here. Either he capitulates and the Clippers draft Mayo, or he holds firm and the Clippers draft Westbrook. Those are the only two scenarios plausible. Questionable from their side, but this tells a lot about their feelings on Shaun Livingston, etc.

I'm praying McHale passes on Mayo!

I just don't think the Clips would have done this if they didn't really think Mayo was available.

To me they dont do this deal hoping that Mayo is going to be there, too risky unless they hope for Mayo and have a plan B, like i said if they wanted a pg they could have got it at 7. My guess is they like Kevin Love enough that he is Plan B/C/D.

ESPN News was just talking about the trade, said its not 100% official yet. Seattle wants to see if Mayo is there at #4 and IF he is, they probably won't trade the pick...but if Mayo is picked at #3, LAC MIGHT trade for it to get Gordon.

ric bucher discussed the deal and said its pending mayo being drafted at 3. if the wolves don't draft mayo, the sonics will keep their pick and draft mayo themselves. if mayo goes #3, the deal will be completed.

That's what I'm asking!

Is Westbrook or Bayless that much better than Gordon (worth one 1st rounder)?

Yeah sounds like Mayo would have to go 2 or 3 for the deal to go down or Seattle will take him. Still wondering who the Clippers want?

They do realize Mayo is going to go #2 most likely, right?

I think this means the Sonics are looking at Brook Lopez and see him unworthy of being picked as high as the 4th pick but feel he will be there at the 7th.

Okay, now sources are saying they traded up to #4 only to pick Gordon. That makes no sense to me...
