Ron Artest will exercise his Kings option to become a free agent, according to Pete Vecsey of the New York Post.
He also reports that the Lakers, Spurs and Mavericks are the teams that will be most interested in him.

Kinda old news... but a Sac paper said otherwise. Rule of thumb... never believe vescey no matter what.

The NY Post also reported that Chris Webber signed with the Knicks so very long ago, instead, he returned to the Kings.

Artest wanted to come to NY but I don't think that Donnie Walsh would want him coming back home after what he went through in IND with him.

Artest's agent, meanwhile, continued to indicate that his client's future in Sacramento will last at least one more season. Asked if the recent speculation about Artest opting out to join the Lakers or any other championship-caliber team for the midlevel could change his mind in these final stages, Stevens said it wasn't likely.
"I don't think it would be a wise decision to (opt out)," he said. "I don't think it will happen. There's been a lot of stuff on TV about Ron, but we're not listening to any of that."

He's kind of like a psychic--he makes up a bunch of crap that people are interested to hear, and because they're interested, they buy into it--regardless of the fact that he's almost always talking out his ass.

For the MLE? I doubt it. He has made it quite clear he wants to go back to the East coast. If he signs for the MLE it would be with a team in the East.

Artest is threateneing to opt out to force a sign-and trade. My guess is that Odom and another goodie (a future first or a prospect) are being offered for Artest and either KT or SAR (likely buyout candidates).

He said he wants to play for the Knicks. I imagine he just wants to go home and would play for any team in the surrounding area.

Umm, what? Artest is NOT threatening us to opt out. If so, link please.
