What do others think of the Pacers weekend?

Post#1 » by IndieRuso420 » Fri Jun 27, 2008 6:45 pm

IND trades JO for Ford, Rasho, Baston, Hibbert
IND trades Bayless, Diogu for B. Rush, Jack, McRobert

Bird turned 3 players into 7.

I understand some might view the Pacers as not getting enough value in either trade for JO or Bayless, but I mean Bird still turned 3 players into 7.

I give the weekend a B to B+.

I want to hear what other NBA fans with no bias think of the turnover and what Bird did? Looking for positive or negative feedback, just interested in hearing other view...

Moving JO to pick up a point guard and drafting Hibbert = genius

Drafting a great combo guard who slips, only to trade him for spare parts = moronic

My bad I forgot #41 pick.

IND traded JO, Bayless, Diogu, Jawai for Ford, Rasho, Baston, Hibbert, R.Rush, Jack, and McRoberts.

It seems most thought u guys got a steal in bayless then shipped him off. personally ive never seen bayless so dont know much about his game other then he's probably another combo guard (something that this draft seemed to be top heavy on)

my 2 favorite players in this draft were hibbert and rush. they arent who i think will be the best but i liked both of there games in college and think they can both be very good role players.

if the pacers happen to suck next year there next goal should be to find a No. 1 option

so yea i think u guys had a pretty good draft

D
Other then adding Brandon Rush I wasn't really big on any of the players they added the past two days.

I am curious about the Bayless trade...but overall dumping JO and picking up Rush/Hibbert/Rasho/Jack/Ford not bad at all IMO...Bayless tho...

B to B- from me

B-

Getting Ford was a good pickup. He is an instant upgrade over Tinsley. Jack should be a good backup for Ford. Brandon Rush is a good solid player, and Roy Hibbert has a great post game. McRoberts add depth.

The Ford trade was a good idea. He will help a lot next year.

The draft was pretty poor. Hibbert isn't a good fit. Rush is a decent pickup, but might be duplication. In any case, they should have gotten more out of the Bayless trade. Jack will make an okay backup, but McRoberts was sucking in the D-league and will probably be out of the league soon.

Their post rotation is really weak now.

I don't really see what direction they're taking.

The pickup that sticks out to me is Hibbert even if I do think he's a good player. Bringing in Ford for JO made me think that they were thinking of running a lot with Granger and Ford leading the way and Dunleavy and Rush hitting the trailing threes but Hibbert doesn't exactly fit the mold there unless he's an amazing outlet passer and I didn't know about it. I don't see the Bayless trade as a bad thing. Bayless and Ford in the same team would have been a headache so instead they get a guy who'd be a better fit as a backup PG, upgrade from an immobile young big to a more mobile big who's probably a better player to boot, and add one of the most NBA ready players in the draft to add some needed defense. My only question is what do they do with Tinsley now? I see their depthchart as follows:
TJ/Jack
Dunleavy/Rush
Granger/S.William
Murphy/S.Williams
Foster/Hibbert

You've got plenty of wings and plenty of shooters. If your bigs can start the fast break well I can see you having a high scoring offense at least. Frontcourt is a bit shaky though and I have no clue if Foster is exercising his option or leaving.

What happens with Tinsley? You keep him.

Nobody else is paying him $22 million over the next three seasons, especially with his injury history and character issues.
