I'm happy for the Clippers, but they've had talented lineups before..definitely not as good as Baron/Gordon/Thornton/Brand/Kaman though..if that team gets depth, they're disgusting..

Since when is 13.5 million cheap? I think the Clippers can actually start Brand at $13.5 million per season, but I am not sure. If the deal averages 13.5 million, then it would be 6-years, $81 million; if it starts at $13.5 million, then it would be closer to 6-years, $97 million.
Nothing cheap in either case.

Great moves for the Clippers I see them getting knocked out in the second round of the playoffs. The good news is they will make the playoffs.

Good move for the Clippers.
Instant playoff contenders. Now all they have to do is get some bench depth.

Here is how the Cap numbers look for the Clipps assuming the renounce Maggette, Livingston, Ross, Smush Parker, Dickau, Paul Davis, the MLE & LLE:
Elton Brand - ?????
Baron Davis - ??????
Chris Kaman - $9,500,000
Cuttino Mobley - $8,925,000
Tim Thomas - $6,049,400
Eric Gordon - $2,186,000 (Cap Hold)
Al Thornton - $1,776,240
Brevin Knight - $1,728,000
Josh Powell - $864,000 (Not guaranteed)
Marcus Williams - $886,517 (Cap Hold, they did offer a QO)
Nick Fazekas - $886,517 (Cap Hold, they did offer a QO)
Roster Charge - $442,114
Total - $33,243,788 (excluding Brand & Davis)
If the Cap is set at $57M that leaves about $23M to split between Brand & Davis. Baron's deal is reported to be worth 5yrs $65M, A starting salary of $11.25M with raises would come to $65.25M. For Elton a starting salary of $12M with 10.5% raises would be $72.6M for 5 years and $90.9M for 6 years.
So if you add $11.25 for Davis & $12M for Brand the Clippers cap number would be at $56,493,788.

Nothing cheap in either case.
Brand at $13.5m is cheap when, next season, Garnett makes $25m, JO and Duncan make $21m, Shaq makes $20m, Dirk makes $18m, Shard makes $17m, AK47, Yao, Amare, Gasol, Odom all make $15m each, and he opted out of a contract to make $17.6m next season.
Maybe you just had no idea what a big man in the NBA costs.

It is very likely that the whole thing was orchestrated from the beginning: Davis and Brand opting out from lucrative last years in their contracts, then signing for less money than they could command in the market, so the Clippers won't have cap problems.

There have been whispers that the Clippers had a deal in place under the table with Baron before Brand had opted out for "more help." Their alibi is that the coach was out visiting a free agent prospect, but that seems like a bogus excuse to me. Nobody will ever prove anything but the course of events is pretty obvious if Brand resigns for so cheap so soon.

a few have mentioned their bench but their bench is pretty solid. they have mobley (whow ill likely start at the beginning of the season), tim thomas, maybe even ross or livingston back. they just need to add some front court help but i wouldnt say they lack depth.

I think the Clips will send GS a pick for Davis S&T so they can keep the MLE.
I'm not sold on this source.

Now can the Clippers actually do something with this talent?

They have decent depth. DeAndre Jordan should be good enough to play 10-15 minutes a night. Josh Powell, Eric Gordon, Quentin Ross, and Brevin Knight are all solid bench players as well. Now all they need to do is send Mobley, Thomas, and a few 1sts to NJ for Carter.

...and sacrifice any of the limited depth that they currently possess in the process.
