http://www.komonews.com/news/local/22808034.htmlSEATTLE -- After a testy six-day trial that wrapped up last week, fans, city officials and the Sonics owners are waiting for U.S. District Court Judge Marsha Pechman's ruling, which she plans to post on the court's Web site at 4 p.m.
Seattle claims the Sonics have to fulfill a "specific performance" clause and play out the lease at the arena. The Sonics claim the city should get nothing but exhaust fumes from back of moving vans because of shameful tactics to drain team owner Clay Bennett financially. Negative vibes outnumbered courtroom occupants.
The Sonics asserted Bennett should be able to write a check to satisfy the final two years of the lease because this is a garden-variety dispute between tenant and landlord and specific performance should not apply.
"You have given me a lot to consider," Pechman told both sides after closing arguments ended Thursday afternoon. "Stay tuned."
I heard on ESPN that the decision will be posted on some website for everyone to read, it won't come in a courtroom like usual...which website is that?
basically it all comes down to this: does this man look like a honest person yes or no?

scary man
but what is lost in all of this mess, is the honorable fans of Seattle, like our man Paul Brogan
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97CXaDIPYTgjust what will become of him mr bennett?

The worst part is how Stern stated that if the Sonics leave to OKC (which Stern wants) that Seattle will not get another team. That is devastating news considering that the Seattle has great fans there. If the decision comes down to keep the team in Seattle it's only until the lease is up though. For that some people may want to just get it over with and start moving on. For others that may give them the proper farewell that they deserve.

What about that other lawsuit when previous owner of the Sonics said he had some sort of verbal agreement with Bennett that they will stay in Seattle?

Basically. Seattle is hoping that if Bennett is forced to stay for the full duration of the lease, he'll get frustrated by losing money and decide to sell the team to a local investor.

Apparently the city of Seattle and the Sonics have come to a settlement. The details won't be revealed till a press conference later today.
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/l ... ial02.htmlThis looks like it could either be really really good, or really really bad for Seattle fans.

Local News is reporting a settlement has been reached. No word on the settlement.
Colleague Sharon Chan reports that she just asked Seattle City Councilmember Jean Godden if the mayor is settling with the Sonics owners.
"It looks like it, but I'm afraid what little I know is sworn to secrecy until after the mayor's press conference," said Godden. A press conference is scheduled for 5 p.m.
Another source confirmed there is a settlement.
