Chris Kaman playing for Germany now

The biggest German-speaking sports network sport1.de has confirmed today that Chris Kaman has received a German passport and will be eligible to play for Germany now. German coach Dirk Bauermann is very happy, and Dirk Nowitzki finds Kaman a superb addition." Wow, Kaman/Dirk will sure be a force to reckon with if Germany qualifies for the Olympics.

PS I also posted this thinking of the Becky Hammon thread. Do u think that Kaman is a traitor, or is his interest legit? Kaman has German ancestry and IMHO will never make the US team. He is *just* not good enough.

I don't want Kaman to play for another county, but Chris is Chris. He's a little crazy. He's probably a little pissed that the US chose Chandler over his as an alternate after Chris already said how he wanted to play in the Olympics. Nowitzki and Kaman could do some damage but not threaten the US.

Threaten the U.S.?? I will be happy if GER actually qualifies for the tournament.

But with the Twin Towers Kaman/Dirk, we may have a 10% shot at Bronze.

I don't care if plays for Germany but I do care if he gets hurt while playing more basketball than normal. Knowing how he plays and his luck he'll probably break his hand or something. :roll:

How can you call him traitor when his ancestor was German? :-?

Even if he weren't a German, this situation happens all the time in soccer and other sports, people shouldn't overreact. Like Deco, he is one of the top mid-fielder in Europe, but he can't even get into the Brazil national team. What do you expect him to do? To sit and pray at home?

Players/Athletes want a chance to play in the biggest tournament in the world. (World cup , Euro for soccer; Olympic for basketball and all the other sports) It is their honor, achievement, the ultimate dream to participate in the tournament. If they are eligible to play for another countries, why not?

Beaten and dragged through the streets? Dude, it's only basketball. Basketball is a game. Games are supposed to be fun. He's throwing a leather ball filled with air through a basket, not picking up a sub-machine gun and mowing down the U.S. Army or tossing frag grenades. Somebody needs some happy pills.
