http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/vi ... p?t=431071Solid signing. Really overpaying but 2 years isn't that much.

The title seems like a slight at the Knicks. We know they suck but you could at least mention in the title that they didn't give him a Jerome James-type deal. Next year he'll be an expiring contract so this deal doesn't hurt them.

Good signing. I wonder what does that do with Marbury?

I don't think any other team would give him the MLE.

Horrible deal, I wouldn't even pay him half the MLE. Duhon is basically a fringe NBA player and shouldn't be more than a third stringer.

duhon can ball. during a stretch mid-season when hinrich and I believe either deng or gordon were hurt, Duhon put up around 35 points against the Blazers. He was also their starting SG for a couple years.

huh?
im not too sure about that 35pt game, and no he was never the starting SG. He started his rookie year and some sophomore year at the point because we needed BG off the bench..
Hes goign to be a solid pickup, knicks really overpaid, but its 2 years so not that bad.

Over paid, yes!
But, it's only 2 years. If he doesn't work out, it's not a long hit on the salary cap.
Edit: They are over the luxury tax threshold, so his annual salary is more like $12M/season.
2 Years $24M for Duhon?
Wow!

-- Only the Knicks.

Yes because money matters to the most valuable franchise in the NBA.

Well, spending it in the wrong ways in the past has yet to get them anywhere in the past couple of years.....
So, might as well continue to throw it away, right? -- Is that what you're saying?

Really good signing. He's exactly the player they need. The contract actually makes a lot of sense. It won't affect their cap situation at all, and they have the money to spend. You've got to commend them for going out and getting the guy they wanted. The only issue with the two-year contract is that they won't have his bird rights. Maybe a team option for a third season would have been better.

Yes we did over pay but come on guys dont be stupid it doesnt hurt the Knicks because its only a two yr contract and can somebody please tell me what the Knicks are going to accomplish in the next two years (free agent wise). The Knicks are in the hole for at least the next two years,so to tell you the truth i wouldnt have minded if they signed a 3yr old kid to this contract because it can only help the Knicks not hurt them

Duhon's agent says the deal is only for 6.5 mil for two years. In that case this is an excellent deal for the Knicks.

First of all, it may not even be the full MLE. I've read several places it's 2 years/6.5M which really doesnt mean anything except for the fact that you have about 2M more money in MLE to spend. Second, it's a 2 year deal which means he's a commodity even if he sucks after next year because his contract expires. Don't get confused with this deal being a Jerome James or Ared Effries type contract. Donnie Walsh is no idiot, he's one of the best basketball minds in the NBA so he's not going to screw the situation up even more.
He's a guy who plays defense and can facilitate an offense. We get a PG who value possessions and hopefully cut Marbury.
