Bucks resign Bogut: 5 years, 60/72.5 million*

Asterik there because part of the deal appears to be incentive based:

http://blogs.jsonline.com/bucks/archive ... nsion.aspx

The extension does not affect the $6.9 million he is owed for the coming season, the final year of his rookie contract. Sources indicated the guaranteed money in the extension is $60 million.

As a Bucks fan, its hard to believe how much money we now will have invested in a bunch of guys who aren't elite at their position.

60 is reasonable, not great for either side. They better hope he's not hitting those incentive clauses.

That was probably a bad idea.

That's the going rate for above average cetners nowadays. He's better than Dalembert so i think he's getting paid fair here.

My opinion as well. IMO he's worth around 10-11 million a year currently so 12 would only be a slight overpayment. If it averages out more to 13-14 million, its likely going to be a bad contract. Unless of course the incentives are things like, you know, becoming a much better basketball player and averaging 20/10/4.

The problem is only compounded by some of the other bad contracts we have in Redd and Gadz. You can generally afford to overpay a bit for a young C like Bogut but its a lot harder when you have other bad deals on the books for a few more years.

What other team would be willing and able to give him more than 12 million a year? I think he is worth at least 10 million but I wouldn't break the bank for a player of his caliper.

The 5 for 60 part of the deal doesn't seem all that bad to me for a young 7 footer, he did have a decent year last year while haveing a back court full of chuckers, I still beleive if he had a decent pass first point gaurd and a post oriented offense, that he could be a very effective player. And if the incentive's on the contract are good one's like all star apperances or playoff apperances or even averageing certain #'s. I would say him getting those incetives would be a good thing because that would mean he had become a really good center in this league, and 5/72 for a really good center isn't bad at all imo.

It seems like a fair deal to me for a young big man who still has potential.

Yep, it all depends on what the incentives are. I am hoping they are of a nature that, if Bogut is able to hit them, he will have become a player who is worth 14 million a year anyway.

Yeah thats too bad you guys wasted a #1 pick on Bustnani. 5/60 mil is right about where everyone thought the offer would be. He's worth it.

He's a good center, and centers are expensive. Rasho got 8 million.

I thought between 10 and 12 Million. A tad high, but well worth it.

Good deal.

Fair contract, a little generous to Bogut but noting over the top.
