THUNDERCATS is not the official name. Those summer league commentators were taking e-mail suggestions during the first day of summer league and said they'd take the best one, and for teh rest of the week call Oklahoma City by that name.

I kind of like that name. It's way better than all those other names that are in contention.

They were tossing out names left and right while they were announcing Monday's game. They even accidently dropped one that was less than uh, PC (though I don't think they meant it in that way). OKC was bombing from 3 on Monday so one of the guys tossed out the name "Oklahoma City Bombers".
