What do you think about this proposed realignment of the divisions that coincides with the Sonics move to Oklahoma City?

Biggest change is the switching of conferences between the Hornets and Bucks. Click on link for details.

Just make it 4 divisions...
West Conference
Pacific.
Midwest.
East Conference
Central.
Atlantic.
It was much better like that anyways...

In case anyone is confused as I was...
Atlantic Division
Boston Celtics
New Jersey Nets
New York Knicks
Philadelphia 76ers
Washington Wizards
Central Division
Chicago Bulls
Cleveland Cavaliers
Detroit Pistons
Indiana Pacers
Toronto Raptors
Southeast Division
Atlanta Hawks
Charlotte Bobcats
Miami Heat
New Orleans Hornets
Orlando Magic
Northwest Division
Denver Nuggets
Milwaukee Bucks
Minnesota Timberwolves
Portland Trail Blazers
Utah Jazz
Pacific Division
Golden State Warriors
Los Angeles Clippers
Los Angeles Lakers
Phoenix Suns
Sacramento Kings
Southwest Division
Dallas Mavericks
Houston Rockets
Memphis Grizzlies
Oklahoma City
San Antonio Spurs
That's the plan, and it's fairly realistic. I don't know about Milwaukee being a Western Conference squad though, especially when you're moving the Hornets out.

i'm really not sure why OKC just isn't moved into northwest, mil isn't kept out east, and NO kept in their current division.
the blog says something about creating competition by moving the hornets to the east, but that should never be considered.

If this is true, Hornets will destroy the East. And the Bucks will get destroyed in the West.

Doing this allows the Northwest Division to get the 5 most Northwestern teams together while creating more parity between the conferences. The Hornets make the Eastern Conference stronger while the West isn't as brutal as it's been for the last decade or so. The resulting shifts in other teams in the east make a lot of sense too.

As a Bucks fan, this would be awful.

they'd go from a 2 seed to a 2 seed maybe 3.

Probably. But IMO IF the Hornets are moved to the East. They will challenge the Celtics for the #1 seed.

Atlantic Division
Boston Celtics
New Jersey Nets
New York Knicks
Philadelphia 76ers
Washington Wizards
Awesome.
Central Division
Chicago Bulls
Cleveland Cavaliers
Detroit Pistons
Indiana Pacers
Toronto Raptors
Great, that makes sense.
Southeast Division
Atlanta Hawks
Charlotte Bobcats
Miami Heat
New Orleans Hornets
Orlando Magic
Really cool.
Pacific Division
Golden State Warriors
Los Angeles Clippers
Los Angeles Lakers
Phoenix Suns
Sacramento Kings
Super.
Southwest Division
Dallas Mavericks
Houston Rockets
Memphis Grizzlies
Oklahoma City
San Antonio Spurs
Nicely done.
Northwest Division
Denver Nuggets
Milwaukee Bucks
Minnesota Timberwolves
Portland Trail Blazers
Utah Jazz
What? Neither Milwaukee or Minnesota belong in the NW, the're Great Lake places with Big Ten-type traditions and this makes no sense.
Of course, the current system makes no sense either, but why change configurations if it doesn't solve the problem?
Who cares about competitive balances, it'll change in a few years anyway.

I like that old format of 2 divisions in conference because no one can complain and say that team only what that division because it sucked. If it was like that again there'd be a guarantee that at least a few teams from each division would be competitive.

What he said. That'd be the death of another NBA franchise. I don't even know if the Bucks are a playoff team in the east and we all know they would be one of the worst in the West. This can't happen or my team will go bye bye.

What? The Hornets could challenge the Celtics for that top spot. But the Pistons could be in that mix as well. Happy? I just forgot to mention the Pistons that's all. So, the Celtics/Hornets/Pistons could challenge the top seed. That is actually has a nice ring to it. "Celtics/Hornets/Pistons".

I just think it's funny that it went from "The Hornets would destroy the East" to, now, reality: "The Hornets might be able to do as good as they would as they did in the West!"
Western Conference fans are so cute.

Well, you can't ignore the fact that there is a clear power drop off when comparing the both sides (West/East) But the East did got stronger in the offseason though. I don't really buy the whole "West/East" comparisons. It might be true that the West is significantly better in the regular season but the NBA champions are from the East. (Well, in the recently, the East won the title more)

Well, the worst of the East is better than the worst of the West, too. The West has better average, middle-class teams right now. The only thing that matters is the very top, and for years now we've seen fans of those mediocre Western teams downplay that and focus on the 4-8 seed teams. I don't know why. Or, I know why, but I don't understand why they continue to go that route.
I apologize if that doesn't fit you, though.

CP3 not to be dealt with anymore!
