Whats the point of watching Summer League games, 3/4 of this players wont even make the NBA, so why are other players playing in Summer League if they know their chances of landing with an NBA are very slim?

Because if you get a chance to play in the NBA summer league, and you are that close to making the NBA and living out your dream, why wouldn't you play? Even if you don't make the NBA and you impress in the summer league, there will be really good opportunities in Europe waiting.

getting noticed for other leagues... expanding on your game... it's las vegas... for the love of the game

You answered your question yourself: having a "slim" chance on making it into the NBA is still better than having NO chance. And by playing, they at least give themselves the opportunity to make it.

If you play REALLY well in the summer league you WILL make it to the NBA. People play in the summer league because it's their only shot at making it to the NBA.

That's how undrafted players get to prove themselves. Some guy from the Knicks summer league team just got signed. Anthony Roberson. Never say never. Even if the chances are slim, you still have to give it a shot, especially if it's your dream to play in the NBA.

Also remember that these guys arent exactly getting minimum wage to play. its decent money to paly basketball.

To try and get invited to camp, make the NBA, or land some kind of spot overseas.

That's the point.

there was a battle last year for who would be the mavs backup PF between pops mensah-bonsu brandon bass and nick fazekas, bass ended up making the team b/c of his impressive range and quick 1st step. and why did he get that chance? b/c of summer league

OP, nobody is making you watch the games. if you feel it is pointless, then just watch something else.

A minimum NBA contract is $442,000. Just make it one year as the 15th man on a team and you're looking at more than what the average American makes in 10 years.

Because a box score tells you virtually nothing about the players. If you want to scout your team's young guys, the only way to do it is to actually watch how they're playing.
