So what's up with these draft picks, I've never seen so much difficulty with having their own FA re-signed, especially Okafor, whens the last time a #2 pick did not re-sign who was not a bust?

Who do you think gets a deal this offseason, and who takes the QO and becomes an UNrestricted FA next summer, who gets traded?

Humphries has signed a multiyear contract with Toronto. He's a quality player which is why Toronto wanted to keep him but he's been buried behind Bosh, Bargnani etc. Snyder was starting for Minnesota last year and they want to re-sign him but for less money than the QO (which is what they did with Telfair too). Swift has a qualifying offer and will more than likely stay with the new OKC team.

Most of the other players are RFA.

TA was signed with the usually bird rights and pay raises. Didn't touch MLE. He still got overpaid. Somewhere along the lines of 4.5 mil over 2 years guaranteed. Should be playing on a one year contract till proven otherwise.

The reason is that the class if full of a bunch of players that are second tier players who believe they should be payed like stars. The stars in the class have been taken care of (Howard, Jefferson, Martin), and smartly signed extensions last year.

Okafor, Deng, Iggy, etc all turned down good contracts to try to get a big contract this year (but hurt themselves with mediocre play last year).

Basically.

the year following the 03 draft so everything is inflated in the eyes of the players

Simply put, Memphis or stay. Oh but Memphis doesn't want to sign any big name free agents.

Plus you have teams preparing for next year, not willing to go nuts on free agents this year.

I'm a little suprised that Philly hasn't resigned Andre though. Other then a poor playoff performance, hes been pretty good.

All of these guys will end up signing. Kirk Snyder and Robert Swift are really the only two who might better off following the gravy train overseas. But the problem is that I think a lot of those guys will be taking the qualifying offer. Adding to next years free agent pool.

I never get the fascination with Robert Swift. Hes an injury prone, inexperienced Center. Hes played 3 out of 4 seasons and 71 out of 328 games.

They just aren't as good as they think they are.

Deng declined a generous 5/57.5 or 11.5 million/year deal last year. Then he goes and has a significantly worse year as the team is worse off. No **** the Bulls aren't going to give you the 5/70 14 million/year deal you want. Maybe if you had a 20/8 allstar calliber year, sure, but you were worse. Common sense Luol.

Kevin Martin got a 5/55 deal, and he's better on both sides of the ball than you, Ben Gordon. Yet what do you want? I'm not actually sure, but I think I recall he wanted a similar 14 million/year deal.

Okafor declined a 5/65 deal last year and is likely to bolt. Thats 13 million/year for a guy who has had significant injury problems and has pretty much put up just about the same numbers since he was a rookie. What do you want Okafor? The max?

How can you leave out the best pick in that draft?
