To avg a triple-double, how much would LeBron's PPG drop?

If LeBron was hellbent on averaging a triple double over the course of a season, how many points would he lose doing so?

I'm inclined to think that being more aggressive on rebounding might actually lead to a couple more putbacks. However, you can't just take off shots made and add them to assists. You need to consider the number of field goal attempts, how often he hits them, how often he is fouled, and how often he is assisted on his own shot. Then once you change those playmaking opportunities into assists, you have to look at how often LeBron's passes lead to assist, how often they lead to nothing, and how often they lead to turnovers.

So what do you think?

He's not gonna do it with this Cavs team first of all. None of the big men can finish, and that kills his assist total.

Also, too many guys sole purpose on the team is to rebound (Ben Wallace, Varejao). It would be hard for him to average 10 rebounds if he's not a primary rebounder.

But to answer your question...if LeBron were on the right team, I dont think his points would drop at all. I think he is fully capable of averaging 30 points and 10 assists a game if he had the right teammates (ones that can finish and dunk). The rebounds would be the hardest part. LeBron is a very good rebounder, but he shouldnt have to be the teams primary rebounder. The only way I could see him averaging 10 rebounds is if he were the primary rebounder.

I'd say 30, 10 and 8 is very possible when he gets the right supporting cast.

I think he could average 25-10-10 with his current team if he really wanted to average a trip dub...

i dont think thats the point of this thread anyway, because he's simply not on the right team.

25-10-10. Lets be serious lebron would still have to score the majority of his teams points. Cleveland would then have to rely on Wally and Sasha. ewww.

With the current Cavs team it's near impossible but I really believe that if he was playing for an uptempo team(with good finishers) like Golden State Warriors or Denver Nuggets he can average a triple double without a significant drop in his PPG.

What about Phoenix? If, say, Nash was traded for LeBron(not gonna happen, obviously, but it's interesting)

PG-Barbosa
SG-Bell
SF-LeBron
PF-Amare
C-Not Shaq, IDK who.

Or even

Barbosa
Bell
*Random SF*
LeBron
Amare

To stick with the small ball. With that lineup, he'd be running the break with some deadly finishers and a good spotup shooter. He'd also be their best rebounder.

Like the rest said, Lebron is on the wrong team to do that. No finishers, slow-paced team.
