The NBA and Euroleague are gonna come to a deal at some point.
in the long run, bidding wars are not good for leagues and are generally the main cause for mergers.

I think Carl should go. Unlike Atlanta our qualifying offer is just 750k(correct me if i'm wrong) for Carl. We get to offer it again next year and if he doesnt want to sign then, he has to play 1 more year at europe. he's alreayd 25 so I think theres no chance of him doing this. Basically if he does this, he wont ever play in the NBA unless its when hes an old fart or he becomes a huge star.

Doubt it, the Euro teams don't really do the whole "Superstar(s) + Role players" thing. They really get guys who play well as a team, with everyone being able to contribute. the game is a bit different over there.
The NBA will forever be home to the insanely huge deals the stars love.
Keep in mind, a star in Europe is
usually just a role player here (there are exceptions).

^ Yeah, while I don't follow the overseas leagues nearly as much as the NBA - the things I've gathered here and there, do indicate that.
See Anthony Parker for example, Euroleague MVP, at least once (may well be two-time). Maurice Evans was the MVP of an all-star game in Italy. Trajan Langdon (undersized Duke SG shooter) I think is big-time, too.
All those guys are of course role-players at best in the NBA
----------
I'd be disappointed to see Landry go from the NBA, because I really like him, impressed me a whole lot - but on the other side Houston losing him is okay by me.

Doesn't seem lik the kind of player who can fill a Euro teams max foreign player quota. The best Americans in Europe are B list Alpha players, not A list Role players.

Aye, Euro league teams will mostly be attracted to the MLE caliber players that find themselves without a market state side. It's definitely not a star driven league/culture, which imo is not such a bad thing.

Its a great opp to go tu Euro. Sure, their level of play will dramatically drop from the NBA but hey, you get a fat check at the end of the day with your kids going through high quality schools, will likely be fluent in two languages, and live in stable economy with safer place.

its only a matter of time until they get a big name out, whoever it is, whether it be James, Wade, Anthony, etc, they will be a worldwide icon.
STERN NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS >__<

Matter of time? Perhaps. If we're measuring in decades. It certainly may come to that eventually, but that's a loooooong way off.
C'mon guys, lets not get carried away.

I would soo LMFAO if in 2010 some Russian mogul throws insane money at LeBron.
For example Abramovich who is the owner of Chelsea just gave his coach a 300mill euro thats almost half a billion(!!) dollars just for 1 off season lol.
Imagen a owner like that in basketball throwing half that at Bron wow would the teams banking on the big LeBron lotto of 2010 be pissed haha.

In theory, that's rather interesting.
NBA teams are limited in what they can offer a player, while there's nothing to stop a european team from offering a Beckam sized $40 million per season offer to a LeBron.
Not saying it will happen, but it could.
oh dear, somebody beat me to the point.
half a billion? That's sick. I'm gunna have to google that crazyness.
