So much for the rise of the europe, one of the spanish top team Girona goes bankrupt after the withdrawal from their sponsors. This show that all this summer transfer are just short sighted. The euro teams don't have the regular income to compete with the nba. It's just a rich sponsor that can pull the childress transfer stunt. Don't expect it to be a regular thing.

Girona isn't a top team, they're an okay team. They finished 7th in their domestic league. Without Marc Gasol, they wouldn't be any good. They aren't the type of team who would have offered big contracts to Americans.

Actually, Tau Ceramica is, and then Barcelona. Real Madrid failed to make it to finals.

Wow, how many conclusions based on just 1 team going bankrupt (and not a top team).

Wow, that is like saying all the super stars are going to move to Europe and the euro leagues are going to be better than the NBA because several average players are going to europe.

I do think this tells something.
Akasvayu Girona was precisely the team that signed Fran Vázquez to a massive contract right after he was selected on the lottery by the Orlando Magic (they also brought Raul López back from the NBA). They were a relative small team that suddenly were blessed with a boatload of millions from a sponsor. But now that the money is not there anymore, they are finished.
The very same thing can happen to Khimki or Dynamo. Also remember Olympiakos itself (the team that has signed Childress) also went on bankrupty some years ago.
Those teams doesn't enjoy a sostainable business model. There's no income to compensate those huge expenses, and whenever their owners get tired of spending millions, they will go down.
A few thoughts on the Euro Fever:

Alert! Alert! Who else believes this will be a trend throughout Europe? Soon teams will be unable to pay their players and the former NBA scrubs who were signed ridiculous contracts
will crawl back to the US only to find they are not wanted.
