TKB has learned that the Knicks have traded Renaldo Balkman to the Denver Nuggets for a future 2nd round pick. Details of the trade are still coming. Stay tuned.

In efforts to improve their defense, the Nuggets have traded for Knicks forward Renaldo Balkman, a source confirmed.

The Nuggets traded seldom-used guards Taurean Green and Bobby Jones, as well as a future second rounder, in exchange for the 6-foot-8 Balkman and $575,000.

Balkman, who turned 24 this month, averaged 3.4 points and 3.3 rebounds last season, but is noted for his hustle and aggressive defensive play. Denver hopes Balkman can crack its rotation in the near future.

so i guess mike d'antoni really did not want balkman in the 2006 draft when isiah said d'antoni wanted him


i like this move for the nuggets, good hustle guy who doesnt care about scoring, they need more of those, especially with losing najera

dang, I would have like to land Bobby Jones for Orlando...this trade is much like a silent toot for both teams...could be something, could be nothing...only time will tell...

there's talk the knicks would release both jones and green.

i'd keep jones, tough defender and loved his game in college. plus he's buddies with nate, not that it means anything.

The Denver Nuggets have traded Taurean Green, Bobby Jones and a 2010 second-round draft pick to the Knicks for Renaldo Balkman and cash considerations, an NBA front-office source tells ESPN.com's John Hollinger.

Green and Jones are likely to be cut because they have non-guaranteed deals, the source told Hollinger. Their acquisitions would increase the Knicks' roster to 17 players.

What a steal by the Nuggets. They bascially gave away 2 scrubs and a 2nd rounder to get a good defender in Balkman.

not really a steal since balkman wasn't gonna get any minutes since wilson chandler outplayed him since he can shoot the ball from the 3pt range and will be fighting for the starting sf spot.

kinda sucks, last month balkman bought a car with orange and blue interior.

First off...that Balkman car is awful. It might have very well been the deciding factor in the Knicks desire to trade him. Crazy dance moves and now a clown car. You don't need a third strike there.

Seriously though this trade might be a positive for David Lee. Both Balkman and Lee have very similar games (i.e. hustle, rebounding, offensively challenged, etc.), and although I believe D'Antoni can utilize one blue collar player, two is one too many for his system IMO.

Does this deal also mean Marbury is staying, since they are now down to 15 on the roster?

If Balkman changes his name to Renaldino Balkmanavic we can just pretend that he's some foreign second round pick that the Nuggets brought over this year.

i'm not sure, i doubt it. knicks aren't gonna pay duhon to be a bench player and robinson won't be burried on the bench since he's the teams best 3pt shooter.

and lee is 10x's better than balkman when it comes to offense and developed a good 10 foot jumper last year. he averaged 13 ppg as a starter so he can score a little.

this is a terrible, terrible trade for both teams. just doesn't address any needs. The Knicks traded away one of the guys with value on their team for a bunch of guys that wont see the floor and the Nuggets got a guy who strictly plays the 3, the position of their best player. i don't get it at all from both sides.

well Denver pulled this trade off to bring in some defense...so I wouldn't say it's totally terrible for them...it's not like Green or Jones were contributing to that team...sad too, Jones is probably one of the better defenders floating around the league...

It's too insignificant to be a terrible trade for anyone.

Meh, taking Rondo out(Since who knew about him at that time), it was Balkman or Marcus Williams(A guy who was given up for a protected as heck 1st round pick)
