Paul Pierce: "I'm the BEST player in the WORLD"

Finals MVP Paul Pierce, who recently spent three days at a ball camp in Madrid, is making, ahem, news about what he said to a Spanish reporter. The money translation, via RedsArmy: "Q: Is Kobe really the best player in the world? Pierce: I don't think Kobe is the best player. I'm the best player. There's a line that separates having confidence and being conceited. I don't cross that line but I have a lot of confidence in myself." Surprisingly, Spurs fans seem more upset by this than actual Lakers fans.
Pierce is a little over his head...

I think there is some credibility to that - he can do everything well, and is really versatile offensively.
But really, I think it's more about his confidence and establishment really being increased after this past season. Especially after how he played a key part in slowing down the Kobe Show.
I don't really blame him for his comments.

Both have similar career numbers in all categories. Except Pierce just nips Allen on PPG and RPG however Allen beats Pierce on 3pt% FT% and Turnovers...

We aren't talking about career numbers. Paul Pierce > Ray Allen. It's not even an argument.
I like how you compare PPG and RPG to 3pt% FT% and Turnovers. Use some real stats.

Honestly if Kobe had to go up against the Lakers defense with Vlad Rad guarding him, I think he'd average 35PPG in the Finals.

Ray Allen carried the 2004/2005 Sonics into the second round and took San Antonio to game six, pretty much single handedly. Paul Pierce has never done that...he can't take a team by himself. In my opinion, that makes Allen > Pierce.

I think Pierce is probably the best well-rounded basketball player with the least flaws in his game but the best in the world? Not even Kobe is arrogant enough to say that.

thats a good mentality to have.....he probably never scores 40 on Lebron or outplays Kobe in the Finals, if he wasnt a bit cocky.
