More "skilled" yet puts up worse stats across the board? Okay....

Seriously, enough of these Kobe vs. Jordan threads.

Skill doesn't always equal results.

Phil Jackson said the Lakers were perfectly fine before the disastrous 4th quarter of Game 4 this Finals.

I can say that the "Joker" is a sane person, that doesn't mean anything if I cant prove it. And in the world of sports you only prove something by results and not by talk.

Also I guess Vince Carter is better than Magic Johnson and Tim Duncan right because he is more skilled?

I still think MJ is way better than Kobe.

While I agree in principle, that last was a bad example because Vince actually is NOT more skilled than Magic or Tim Duncan.

He's more athletic than either and a better shooter than Duncan but certainly doesn't possess the host of skills that Magic parlayed into a top-6 career.

I don't have a problem with anybody ranking Kobe's skills that high..he does have arguably the best skill set in NBA history..but skills don't equal greatness..ask Vince Carter..ask Jamal Crawford..

Phil Jackson's opinions annoy me anyways..I don't think he should be allowed to give opinions anymore..from his Spurs deserve an *, then finding out the Lakers title was possibly rigged..from implying that his own player, Kobe Bryant, is a rapist(in his book)..what kind of coach says that about his best player? ridiculous..

great coach, but he comes off as an ****..

Phil speaks the truth. Kobe definitely is the more skilled offensive player. He has the better jumper and longer range. But there's a big difference between skills and production.

Tim Thomas for instance is a very skilled player but has let them go to waste because he hasn't utilized his talents effectively. Vince Carter is another extremely talented individual who could have been another great if he had more drive.

This isn't the first time he's said this. He claimed Kobe was better 18-22 than Michael was at the same age. Either way it's funny to see all these people calling me biased and all sorts of other stuff when Phil Jackson shares my opinion almost to the T.

Oh, he said that the Bad Boy Pistons would just be an average defensive team in this era, did he?

Not that it matters what Phil Jackson or anyone else really says: The proof is in the pudding. Einstein could say there's no such thing as rain, it wouldn't make him right.

Not even close. For a volume scorer his fg% is nothing to brag about and he has shot a worse fg% than his team the last 5 years. Also his best efficiency was about as good as MJ's career average efficiency.

Man, you must not know how to listen. I didn't hear Phil Jackson ever say Kobe was better than MJ, all I heard was that he had more skill than MJ. That doesn't make him better... I don't know if you understand that or not.

Phil is one of the most biased and emotionally driven personality in the league. Just look at how quick he was to jump on Kobe after his departure from the Lakers and then his change of heart after he took the job. He's a very sensitive man who lives in the present. Riley is no different either. He said something about how Wade was the most talented individual he coached when he coached Magic Johnson and Kareem. Just because someone involved in the league makes a comment doesn't instantly make the statement credible.

I agree!
I think skill-wise Kobe and Jordan are very close. IMO what makes Jordan better is his great athleticism and decision making. Although Kobe has good athleticism and basketball brain/IQ, he can't compare to Jordan in those area.
