He runs the dynasty mode in NBA Live and copies the schedule.

lol, maybe...but then again, maybe he does use excel? lol
i know it takes about 6 months to do the schedule, so it's no easy task...it's supposed to be pretty random to make each season fair...

Yeah I couldn't imagine how hard that job must be. You have so much to account for. The person that does it I can almost guarentee has a very high level education in math.
*Thinking about it. It's almost like one gigantic sudoku puzzle.

Yeah it has to be the hardest job in sports. He has to make 2460 games a season and has to follow guidlines. Couldn't imagine the stress.

I remember it was one wiretap few days ago that he had to make alternative schedule for next season because the situation with Sonics still hadn't been resolved.

Yeah I read that, it also said that he starts making the new schedules in FEBURARY.
But didn't say anything about the process.

Making the NBA schedule would be a dream job of mine.

Serious?
That sounds like a job only 1 or 2 people in the world could do. If your favorite team has an easy schedule you'll be blamed by other fans.
Awful job IMO, good pay though.

I'm sure this isn't a one-man job, that there are more people behind this.

I could do it, honestly, and I would love to do it.
I would have to be incredibly organized and probably have 30 huge boards laid out in my house, with a bucket of 82 magnets for each team and go step-by-step but get it done properly.

You'd have to collaborate with NHL, WNBA, and AFL schedule makers so you don't schedule games at the same place at the same date/time. also you'd need to know when HS or college teams are playing in your stadium, and when concerts, circuses, and other events are going on (the Bulls go on a big road trip early every season because of a circus).
And also make sure that the Lakers and Clippers don't play at home at the same time.

I wonder how random it really is, I feel like the Blazers always start out on the road the last few years.

I was under the impression that NBA teams got first dibs for the most part.
It wouldn't be really that hard. It could easily be a one man job. What is he going to do for the rest of the year, if it does take 4-6 months (which I kind of find that hard to believe)?

I think it is a one man job. I remember seeing it on a NBA show (Inside Stuff i think) and there was one bigggg ass chart on the wall with 10000's of boxes, like excel. Different colors, many pins and whatnot. Very complicated.

Not only does he have to take Arena schedules in to consideration, but TV schedules as well. TNT will want top matchups to play on Thursdays and the same for ABC on weekends. There is so much he has to consider. It's a tough job.
