Definately, it would be an added bonus if Shaq came into training camp healthy and motivated. After the Shaq traded Amare averaged almost 30 point per game and Shaq spaced the floor out so Amare could have a field day, he has a chance to be the MVP next season plus the Suns got a more defensive minded coach and added more depth to the roster with Lopez and Barnes, if anything they improved from last season.

Their window closed significantly when they dealt Kurt Thomas, and they slammed it shut on themselves when they traded for Shaq. To make it worse, they stuck their fingers against the doorway as the door was slammed shut, because they'll be hurting for years to come with that salary and lack of young talent.

no, Hornets,Lakers,Spurs and Rockets are imo, much better and the suns wouldn't hace a chance in a series against any one of them.

No

The Phoenix Suns window of opportunity ended when Bryan Colangelo left the team.

Steve Nash show signs of slowing down last season. Not his usually MVP self.

Shaquille O'Neal is way past his prime.

Raja Bell is slowing down.

Grant Hill is slowing down.

It was a big mistake in getting rid of Shawn Marion because he had good chemistry with Steve Nash.

I think a better question is 'Do they have a chance at making the playoffs?'. They definately screwed themselves up trading away Marion for Shaq. And Nash is not getting any younger.

Exactly.

The Phoenix Suns are looking toward 8th place or miss the playoffs entirely.

I don't know how good of a job Terry Porter can do to get them into the playoffs in his first year even though they have talent.

Yes, they are no longer undersized, and they have legit size upfront now, last they were still trying to adjust to the trade, I think they can do it this year.

They are still not deep enough especially at PG . Nash really shouldn't play that much anymore he's getting up in age.

Well, I think they are in better position now than last year after Shaq trade. They've got a new coach that will put some emphasis on defense, they gained some bench depth with Barnes and Lopez, and they still have training camp to work on their chemistry and to figure out what roles each player would have. All they have to do now is to resolve the situation with Dragic and they are good to go for the next season.

They need to add some talent to be a real threat to win it all. If they stand pat then they are a step below LAL, NOH, HOU. They are missing something at the SG/SF position, if they could at VC or Josh Howard then they would stand a better chance at winning it all........
