Wow. Freak of nature. Unfortunately, he sucks at basketball.

I think Dwight could do it if he wanted to.

And this is supposed to impress people? I remember hearing stories of streetball legends, KAJ and even Joakim Noah grabbing things off the top of the backboard. How high is that?

But, they are just stories with no actual proof. They could just be tall tales for all we know since there is no actually record of anyone touching the top of a backboard.

The top of a regulation NBA backboard is 13 feet high. In a park the backboard may be different because those backboards often have different shapes and often they have smaller backboards...

I also attend the Univ. of Florida and can guarantee you that Joakim Noah cannot touch the top of the backboard, at least not a regulation one at 13 feet...

He should really pursue the long jump and high jump: "McCandless said that even without training White qualified for the Olympic trials in the high jump by leaping 7-4 and the long jump with a distance of 25-7."

Edit. Just the top of the square, but that was at the end of the workout when you would expect him to be winded.

Claims don't mean anything. Footage means business.

This is the only real footage I've seen of a 13' touch, and it's likely one of the only times it's ever been done.

Dwight has a 9'4 standing reach, even if Dwight had a 40 inch vertical, he would still be 4 inches short.

In a world where Kwame Brown gets a deal, why hasn't Darius gotten a new contract if he has that much leaping ability left on those knees?

That's if he goes up with both arms straight up, since that's the standing reach measurement. If Dwight was allowed to reach up with one hand, he could might touch 13 feet. He'd gain at least a few more inches by being able to turn his shoulders a little to raise that one arm a little bit higher.

Wilt was 7-1, had a 7-2 wingspan and a 9-6 standing reach, and high-jumped 6-6 ¾ in 1958 (the record at the time was 7-0).

In 1956 Bill Russell high-jumped 6-9 ¼.

Surely there's some mathematical way to extrapolate those numbers into whether either could have reached 13-0.
