Should Yao Ming even be playing?

If Yao Ming is 60-70% as he says he is, then WHY THE F*** IS HE PLAYING? I don't care if China is slave driving him to play. If gets injured he risks his career and more importantly the Rockets chances. He needs to take a dive and sit the rest of the Olympics out.
I keeping dreaming of Dwight Howard pulling a Wilcox v. Mihm, and injuring Yao with a ferocious dunk. Come on Yao, take a dive for Houston/America. We'll reward you with a max contact.
Yes, I'm selfish.

Houston knew what they were getting into before drafting Yao. Team China was priority #1 from day 1.

What he meant was his condition was at 70% of his best, not his feet were 70% healed. Big difference. A lot is lost in translation.

Maybe he "shouldn't", but he "will". Just like Garbajosa when he was playing for the Raptors. Also, representing your country(Which you are an idol in) in the Olympics which is taking place in your own country, who would pass that opportunity?

Of course he should play for team China. He'd play if he was 40%. He wants to, and it's up to him.

He's going to play, one MAIN reason is because he is the face of China and all of Olympics. Basketball is big for this reason also in this years Olympics. I expect that more people will watch. I personally don't think he will have an injury year, not in the Olympics nor in the NBA.

Olympics aren't even nearly as important as the NBA..the Olympics in general have been irrelevant for years..full of controversy and performance enhancing drugs..they don't really appeal anymore..it's been like this for a minute..

Don't be a tool. I'm sure Yao wants to play for China as much as they want him to play for them.

Yup, NBA is such a clean place to play! Tim Donaghy and David Stern say hi
Actually it's the other way around. You can play in NBA every year, but Olympics is a once in a life time experience to represent your country. You can only join once every 4 years. Moreover it is your home country that will host the competition, that makes it even more memorable. I guess Americans don't have a sense of honor to represent their home country.

Does it matter if you have the chance to represent your country? This isn't something that can be measure by money. Didn't you see the priceless commercial?
