Memphis renouncing rights to Jacobsen + Brown = Big signing?

So what does this give them? an extra 1.5 mil a year to play around with?
So before they offered Josh Smith 5/58.
Now they can offer 5/65 or 6/78 right? I may be off on the numbers. If they're willing to sign Andre Iguodala for the 6/75 that he wants, I don't know if 76ers can or will match that.
Anyone think this is their Plan B since Josh Smith was a no go? Maybe they should have done this before and offered Smith 5/65..
A lineup of Darko/Iggy/Gay/Mayo/Conley would be very athletic if not very small. Maybe it'd work, who knows. Maybe they'd go Darko/Arthur/Iggy/Gay/Mayo when they want to go big.
Either way I'd say Iggy's worth the money.
Iggy/Gay/Mayo = athletic freaks together.

Memphis can't offer a 6 year deal to other team's free agents.

but Iggy and Gay are very redundent next to each other. I think I have the Grizz have missed this boat as far as this offseason is concern. Unless they take back a salary already under contract.

I would love for the Grizzlies to steal Iguodala and **** with Benedict Brand.

Probably not though...

Combine this with the Randolph for Darko rumors floating around, it certainly could mean something. Or it could possibly mean that they really dont care for Jacobsen and Brown...

Ugh, they need a big guy. Another guard/forward is not really going to do much for them IMO.

I'm sure even 5 years 65 million would be good for Iggy.

IMO they would have done this before signing Smith to an offer sheet if they were really interested in spending big money for a FA this offseason. It was pretty obvious that ATL was going to match that offer and it took them less than a day to do so. If Smith signed with Memphis, good deal, if Smith didn't sign with MEM, at least they can say they tried. If they signed Iggy to a 12-13m per season offer sheet, it would be matched by PHI. The only thing MEM could do is try to max him out and hope they don't match. Otherwise, they'll be the team that used their cap space to determine what Smith and Iggy returned to their teams for.

If you sign Iggy at 5/65, we'll become Grizzlies fans forever. We've been waiting for a resolution for Iguodala and this would be a major steal.

Yeah the thing is no good big men are left on the free agent market.
If they really are going after Zach Randolph, wish them luck with that. With the athletic team they have he would sure slow em down...

Especially with Randolph, I think they could, or at least eventually, play half-court with the creative offensive/scoring players they got, though. They could also seize running oppurtunities.
They'd become more versatile offensively, and get more balanced offensively in terms of positional options.
I don't know anything about Marc Gasol, but if he's a solid defender/rebounder, passable offensively, that's a nice big man combo.

I can't imagine the Griz would have any interest in Randolph why would the cheapest franchise in the NBA want the worst contract in the NBA?
