Did he decline? No offense to anyone who takes offense but Tmac> Tprince. Tracey is one of the most complete players in the league? Was it the team because he has injury issues?

Well # 1. . ..It's Tracy, Not Tracey

and I'm sure his "health" is a major reason. . .

We don't need any more scorers... We already have LBJ, KB, Drunkmelo, Dwight Howard, Bosh, Boozer, Redd, D-Will, and CP3. Did I forgot Wade too?

Now... we need to balance that we some defense. Deron Williams, Kobe Bryant, Tayshaun Prince, El-BJ and Dwight Howard do a lot of the defense at their position. But really, Wade, Drunkmelo, Kidd, and some of the others aren't really that great defensively. We are gonna have some issues when we face La Bomba, V-Span, Ricky "Quadruple-double" Rubio and others. Bowen and Battier are already out of the team, the only young great defensive man that can guard forwards and perimeter players too.

No offense, but the question nearly sounds like... Why don't we have AI, Zach Randolph, Eddy Curry, or Charlie Villanueva.

Besides, I am not forgetting the Pink Elephant in the room. With Tracy on the team, we would never get off the preliminary round. It is never good to bring a second round virgin to a team that desire to call itself the redeem team.

Yep, he's not good enough. Plus, even if he made the team, one hit and he would be gone and we would looking at bringing in Tayshaun Prince, so there's no point.

We'd never have a chance of making it out of the 1st round. . .

Not sure if he was even invited, but we don't need him. it would be hard to argue that he could replace anyone on the team for the role he would play. I thought AI should have been invited for being the only superstar to go to Athens when all others chickened out.

I believe Shaq had an open invitation but he declined.

Thanks bro. Getting back at my life here in the US after living in France. I have an accent on my "R", I still say Euros, and missing the beach. Life after the death of such close family member, under such fashion, and with the responsibilities they left behind has and continues to change my life and the life of my family. One must be strong, I did read the messages that people wrote and the solidarity shown by people moved me a lot. As compelled as I felt to respond, for the safety of mine and of my family I decided to uphold such action, due to the reason that I didn't understand at the time the depth of interests by the criminals that committed such abhorring actions.

Either way, I am back, and I don't want to average 45 posts a day, but I am here, and I am watching. I did too in France, with the 3 hours of internet I got a week.

I'll be around. Thanks for your thoughts. :D

He declined for the 04 Olympics. In fact, everyone declined in 04 including KG, Duncan, Shaq, Kidd, etc and Team USA was forced to invite the young superstars who never had any sort of experience.

We should have won the 04 Olympics easily if we actually sent 2 or 3 of our top 10 players in 04.

I believe he declined again for the 08 Olympics in 05 or 06 just like everyone else once again.

Yeah, I think he didn't want the 3 year commitment. He was having surgery this summer anyways, no way he could have played.

LOL @ he's not good enough...

Anyways, health has always been an issue and he doesn't love basketball enough to make a 3 year commitment.

After the US finished 6th in the world tournament back in 02, McGrady joined the team stating "we sent great players, but not the elite players. This time it will be different". He joined the Olympic qualifying tournament in 03 where he was pretty solid and U.S swept the competition. The line up for the 04 Olympics was suppossed to be Kobe, McGrady, KG, Duncan, Shaq Kobe wanted to play the point.. That team would not have been beaten. I don't care what you say about shooting, those guys were all in their primes at that time and would have destroyed the competition.

Because he wouldnt be a good fit. History has already shown that its not a good idea to just try to throw some all stars on a team and expect them to win because their better individual players. Its a TEAM. And Kobe, Lebron, Redd and wade scores. We need Defense from Prince, not more offense from T mac.

I do recall him expressing safety concerns and not wanting to go for the 04 olympics. The 3 year thing and needing to rest his body were also of concern.

That said, they don't need him though. Let people go who actually want to be there.
