Man, it's great to hear John Tesh's classic theme again.

It brings back a lot of memories.

You can play whatever theme you want....if Bob Costas or Marv Albert isn't calling the game then its not the same thing. Play the theme....but having Mike Breen call the game still makes it a poor ABC like presentation.

I despise that theme. It reminds me of the Bulls and Lakers dominance. I really liked the CBS theme instead. I think all of Phil Jackson's championships were won during the NBC era. Therefore, I despise the NBC theme!

Yes. The CBS theme was so much better. Brent Musburger's opening monologue, the cheesy 80s graphics, then an aerial shot of the Forum parking lot on another early summer evening of Finals basketball...that will always be the best. (Although, I have to scratch your head about hating the NBC theme because it signified Laker dominance; they won five titles on CBS)

Reminds me of Saturday and Sunday mornings waking up with my brother and putting on a jersey to watch the games, then going out and playing basketball during half time.

Aside from the MNF theme song (which was a rip off a previous song anyways, and which ESPN/ABC are trying their hardest to run into the ground by overusing it), it is the best intro music in sports, imo. Just an awesome, awesome sound byte that really gets my engine revving.

Damn I miss NBA on NBC.

I hated that theme song...............still do I was so glad when NBC lost the NBA contract to ABC/ESPN.
But like Sedale Threatt said the CBS theme song was much better. But I hated the graphic shot of the inside arena which was no less the lay out of the old Boston Garden.

Hey Roscoe Sheed, the Lakers only won 3 titles during the last few years of the contract on NBC so I don't know about the dominance thing. The main thing I hated about NBC was the announcers and analyst.

Agreed. Bob Costas intros before the games were epic. If that didn't get you pumped up for the game then nothing will.

It's probably the best theme ever in sports along with the NFL on Fox theme.

I liked the Lakers back in the '80s. How couldn't you? They had likable players back then. I was referring to the Phil Jackson coached teams in the early 2000s. I can't stand Phil Jackson. I wish he never coached another game ever. I wish him no harm, just don't want to ever coach again

when does the abc contract end? i hope they consider going back to nbc. the theme song alone should warrant to switch back to nbc.
