Is Dwayne Wade the next to get lured away?

It seems like LeBron isn't the only one to be interested to play overseas in a few years.
First, Heat fans have had to wonder about Dwyane Wade's hometown Chicago Bulls luring him away in two years when his contract expires. Now, Greece? Here was the question that came from a Greek reporter: Would Wade think of playing in Greece if he received a deal like the rumored one revolving LeBron James for $50 million a year? "Oh, yeah," he says. Has anyone contacted him? "No, no, no," he says. "I'm happy with the Heat. But we've been joking with LeBron about that. The numbers talk, no question about it." It was eye-opening for Wade to see Atlanta Hawk Josh Childress sign recently with a Greek team for three years and $32.5 million. That suggested something in the game is tilting, some residue from the past couple of decades of building up the international game. "Look, a lot of guys like me got the [maximum contracts]," Wade said. "But the way his deal is structured Josh is making just about the same as I am after taxes. If LeBron can make what's being thrown around, that's crazy. "We never thought we'd be in a position like this, but we'll see what's going to happen in the next several years."

I don't blame him if I got contract similar or little bit less to Lebron's I'd take it...

Stern will make sure Bron and Wade stay in the NBA. Change the rules, bend them, or flat out break them, Stern will not lose his best employees.

The absolute worst part about this is that now virtually every free agent is going to be tied into rumors of overseas play.

Russian is right. Stern will make something happen. He'd lose too much money losing one of the league's best stars.

Stern is too smart of a businessman to let the NBA product be decimated by letting his best players be taken away over seas.

You're completely right. The media makes it seem like every, and I mean every, one of the NBA's best players are going to leave for the international game when their contracts are up. It's almost like the media wants it to happen after reading some of the articles. Interesting times are coming up.

But hey, I'm ready for the Rockets to make a serious run (and win) the championship this year. I'll worry about that when the time comes.

Many posters here deeply dislike David Stern. (Heck, the way he has helped expand basketball internationally, and subsequent lack of acknowledgement that if it wasn't for him Spain, Argentina, Greece, or Lithuania would not be nearly as good as they are today; that could all be argued as a bad thing.)

The one thing he has done well is market and make sound rules, for the most part. He will not allow the NBA's rules to inhibit NBA teams from re-signing the best players in the NBA. That you can be sure of.

By the time they become FA's Stern will do something to make sure they'll stay you can bet on that.

There really is no reason to start another thread every time someone is asked if they'd go to play in Europe for 50 million/yr. The answer is yes for every single one of them. I don't even know why anyone would be surprised by that.

Ive been thinking about this for some time now. What about, allowing teams to give 50% more in there last contract, while only applying 50% to the cap. So lets say wade's gets a contract starting @ 30 million, only 15 million would be on the cap. This also would give the home team, a big leg up on retaining there talent, while adding value to draft picks.
