How come all NBA games like 2k and live have rap and hip hop music in them and don't have things like metal, rock, etc?
What do you guys think about it? Would you perfer other types of music on the NBA games or do you like the rap?

A mixture of genres, like in the Madden games, would be the best.

Because no one wants to listen to rock when playing basketball?
Besides, we all know Jazz is the way to go.

The best music to listen to when playing 2k8 is the blues. Put on some B.B. King or Albert King and you can make Kwame Brown MIP DPOY and an MVP canidate.

With the live series on PC you can (through a bit of work) change all the music. I deleted the entire soundtrack and replaced it with Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass' greatest hits.
It was beyond awesome. It's the style of music you hear on blooper reels

Even though I only listen to Metal. I really think hip-hop sounds best for Basketball. A mixture would be nice as a soundtrack, but hip-hop would be best. I think metal would work well for something like football because its more aggressive and brutal, and it fits well for what football provides. Basketball is more of a finesse type of sport so it doesn't blend in as well imo.
So for basketball soundtracks I would say hip-hop/jazzish type if music.

NBA 2k8 has mostly hip hop, but sometimes I get some nice electronica.
The problem with some loungy electronica is that it doesn't give you adrenaline on the game, so some rock and roll, hip hop or some fueling music is the best way to go.
