Looking forward to '12, which young players currently in the league do you expect to be on team usa. Post a 12 or 16 man roster.
PG: Deron William/Chris Paul/Derrick Rose
SG: Kevin Martin/Brandon Roy/ < 3pt. Specialist..Oj Mayo?
SF: Carmelo Anthony/Andre Iguodala
PF: Al Jefferson/LaMarcus Aldridge
C: Dwight Howard /Greg Oden/Andrew Bynum
I doubt Wade comes back because of his age, (he'll be 30) plus with his style of play, i dont think he'd want any extra wear-n-tear. Melo seems to love playin for the Team, i just dont see him turning down an invitation. I dont see Bosh or Bron doing it again either

Quick run through:
I actually don't see CP3 coming back if they win this year.
Williams/(Young PG that break out)/Ellis
Roy/J. Johnson/Ellis
Melo/Gay
Jefferson/Beasley/Horford
Howard/Oden/Horford
Ellis' size won't hurt him in the international game and I think he's going to explode and merit an invite. Williams and Roy are two upstanding players that happen to have real talent and a jumpshot. I also see Joe Johnson getting an invite and spreading the floor. If either of my off guard reserves is a miss, I've got OJ Mayo.
Melo will come back I think, and Gay will back him up. For those keeping score, this means I think the Grizzlies could have two olympians.
Jefferson and Beasley are good choices for various reasons, Beasley's shot will help a lot. Howard is a no brainer if he accepts, Oden I think will want to play for his country, but if injuries are plaguing him, insert Bynum. Horford is a good kid who I think is poised to make big strides and can back up both big positions.

Correct me if i'm wrong but i thought Horford was Dominican. Does he have citizenship? Gay is a good pick but i think Iggy gets the nod over him. If Melo does not accept, i expect Beasley to replace him

Why do you think Deron, CP3, Melo would go and LeBron or Bosh not?
And have you guys heard about the guy named Durant?

that looks about perfect. that would be who i would send over.
but if we are basing it on recent team constructions, then there are too many bigs.
but if i could choose, this would be the team.

I'm honestly still waiting to see where Durant lands with regard to position. Bosh I forgot about entirely. I would put him in for Beasley. I don't know what it is about CP, I just see him not returning. Same thing with Lebron. It doesn't make them bad people. KG and Duncan didn't go when they could have, the list is pretty long, there are a lot of circumstances. In Wade's case I believe he will be too beaten up and need to recover. With the Gay/Iggy thing, I think Gay has a higher ceiling and he's got the better shot.
With Horford, Good catch, I'm not sure about that. My revised list:
Williams/emergent PG/Ellis
Roy/Johnson/Ellis
Melo/Gay
Bosh/Jefferson/Beasley
Howard/Oden(Bynum)/Jefferson

Why wouldn't LeBron go over? He seems to love playing for Team USA.

Cellar why did you put "emergent PG" as your second PG? Ever heard of Chris Paul?

Reading is fundamental. It's just my opinion. I don't have anything to back it up, I just don't feel like he will return. He and Deron are friends, so I could see them both coming back, but I opted to do something a little out of the ordinary. As for Lebron, a lot of it I feel will be how many miles will be on his body. By 2012 he will probably have been to the EFC 6 years or whatever straight and he's spent a lot of time carrying teams and playing over 40mpg, I think he'll be looking for a rest.

Howard
James
Anthony
Roy
Williams
Oden
Bosh
Durant
Wade
Paul
Two college players
I would do a mix of older and new players, I really don't want a whole new group of 12, because they will lose out on all the things this current team learned playing International ball. Sort of like how College/highschool basketball has Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors. Wade could be the super 6th man much like he has been so far. I actually would not mind the idea of putting 1 or 2 highly touted college players on the team, to kind of prep them like an internship for International play. Prince and Boozer don't play much anyway and the experience would be very valuable to a guy like Stephen Curry or Blake Griffin.

Ellis' size wouldn't hurt him in the NBA either. He's a 6'3" point guard.

Something like that. Couldn't decide on Roy or Iguodala. Plus, I'm not sure LeBron would be going back for his 3rd Olympics. I don't think most of the players now will return if the US wins gold either because,
1) They won't be as hungry/don't feel the need or urge to go back 2) The 3 year commitment took a lot out of their off-season 3) Age.
