Kevin Martin and Al Jefferson
Kevin Martin and Al Jefferson how stupid do they look right now? If I were them I would fire my agent right now.
Kevin Martin signed for 5 years and 55 million, Iguodala got 6 years 80 million, that's a 25 million dollar difference in total cash, and I know it's an extra year but still he's not guarnteed another contract after this one.
Al Jefferson would have been the top free agent in this class, a big 22/11 young power forward? And you have teams like Memphis, LAL, and GSW who all needed a PF? Yeah I'm pretty sure Al Jefferson could have gotten more than Brand did. I'm pretty sure Al Jefferson could have gotten that 5 year 90 million deal that Brand was offered from GSW. Al Jefferson basically lost out on 25 million too.

Elton Brand is a hell of a lot more proven than Jefferson.

Exactly, I see it as wise GM moves. Don't hate on Petrie, the man knows what he's doing.

Re: Kevin Martin and Al Jefferson
This shows how much you know about the character of Al Jefferson. He wanted to sign long term in Minnesota. He wanted to sign for less than the max.

Al Jefferson could have waited until next summer to sign a contract extension with the Minnesota Timberwolves. In fact, that was what his agent advised him to do, hoping that a big season and his status as a restricted free agent would have brought the 22-year-old power forward the highest contract allowable under league rules. Jefferson ignored that advice and signed a five-year, $65 million deal just before the deadline on Wednesday night. In the era of "Show me the money!" and "bling bling," Jefferson's reason was stunningly humble. "I didn't even think I was worth max (money) this year anyway," Jefferson said at a press conference on Thursday. "I would've been a fool to go up there and ask for max, having not really proved myself for that.

Lol, and we use to say that Martin was overpaid. Seems like teams are severely overpaying talent.

Yes. $5 million is a surprisingly large amount of money.

Re: Kevin Martin and Al Jefferson
Well, they are basically the best value contracts in the Class of 2004. Both Jefferson/Martin are humble players. Like Martin said "I will not confuse wealth with money" He and Jefferson are the few players in the NBA are not money hungry. Even though, they deserve heck of a lot of money than their current contract but this shows their true character. Unlike players that demands outrageous money over the summer.

Wow. I am impressed. I didn't know there are such class acts among professional athletes.

Harris although hasn't been as good as Martin or Jefferson has a great contract as well with his five-years $42.6 million .

Re: Kevin Martin and Al Jefferson
didnt know that about Jefferson, but that is awesome.
The TWolves would be over the moon that they have a young guy with such a great attitude.
And KMartin is a really grounded person.
It surprises me that this sort of topic comes up.
Last year they were overpaid, this year they are idiots.
grow up man

I doubt it really matters if you have 65 or 70.

Eh, you can say that. If Harris improves to that 17/4/7 player or something like that next year, the Nets will have a young PG in a nice contract.

These averages shouldn't be that big of a problem. He should be playing more minutes ( 35-40 ) and have a bigger role then last year . ~20 PPG is possible if he stays healthy . He now has the opportunity to shine in a bigger role unlike in Dallas where he was 3rd - 4th option on offense.
From what i've seen last year i'm convinced he can do that.

Igoudala's contract is 6/70 million with a maximum of 80 based on incentives. That is a fair deal. Hes more complete than KMart in everthing except scoring. Hes a far better playmaker and defender so he should be paid accordingly.

Well, true, Iggy is a better playmaker and defender. But there is a misconception around here. Martin doesn't scores only. He is actually an above-average defender. He uses his quickness and length to harass the opponent. But to be honest, he is an inconsistent defender. Being our major offensive threat (Outside of Artest) he can't be a good defender and an elite scorer at the same time. But at times, he looks like a superstar. He has shown promise in the passing aspect. Even though, statistics doesn't shows it but he has a good awareness for a SG. He usually does his "drive and kick out" to the open man. Even though, he has the full package on offense, he still lacks a turnaround shot in the post. He needs that option to be truly a nightmare to defenders (Even though, he is though the league

Martin has sign a 5 year contract that is worth $55 million. The Kings has sign Martin at a bargain price. He has earned every penny of that contract.
He is soo efficient, it's scary, really. His off-ball game is one of the best in the NBA. If you pair him up with an elite PG. i.e Paul. He would be very good. A Paul/Martin backcourt would be scary good.

Actually Iggys contract has been reported as 6 years 80 million with 5 additional mil possible in incentives. And no Iggy is not a better player than Kmart- nor will he be. AI wont even be a top 5 player in his draft class. KMart and Al Jefferson are better than all the RFAs that were up for extension this year save for Josh Smith and their contracts are much more reasonable. It really amazes me that less than allstar level talent like Deng, Iggy, Okafor were able to get such large contracts. Props to Kmart and Al Jefferson for not overvaluing themselves- and IRC didnt AI initial ask for a max contract?
