Why does Kobe Bryant screw up in NBA Finals (last 2 trips) and now Olympics (making 3 of 20 trey attempts)? Yet he performs well on the mundane regular season (yet misses most buzzer-beaters)? Does he have a problem with pressure/big occassions? He does seem kind of nervous in interviews.

Kobe has had some clutch moments in his career against the Kings and Blazers..but hes also had some bad moments, mostly in the Finals. Hes neither a monster in the clutch or a chocker..somewhere in the middle.

I used to think he was really clutch, and as an opposing fan, I would hate for him to take the last shot. But I think he's definitely had problems recently. I don't think he necessarily chokes under pressure, but I no longer give him that "clutch" label.

I can't imagine that Kobe has felt any pressure at all thus far in the Olympics. Lets just call it what it is, a brief slump.

Did you read what he just said, hahahaha, really, is this guy stupid? he said the lakers made a mistake trading the pick from marc gasol to the grizzlies, seriously, is this guy stupid? what he is thinking about, why would the grizzlies trade pau gasol for nothing? kobe knows the rules about this or he is stupid?

the Olympics are irrelevant..the US is the Harlem Globetrotter team, which has been obvious in every game..they're just playing around with them..so I don't think Kobe is getting too worried about his offensive performance so far..

as for the NBA level..he's certainly a choker in the finals, and the numbers prove that..he hasn't been able to dominate as much as the media and his fans would expect him to..the 2004 finals was probably the worst performance I've ever seen from a superstar player..not because he was missing, but because of the types of shots he was taking and the fact that he was blatantly ignoring a single-covered Shaq..

this year he just choked..there's no doubt that he's playing against great defensive teams, but I don't see any argument that he wasn't choking..when you consider that he let his team blow a 20-point lead at home in the NBA finals this year, there's nothing else you can say other than he choked..a player of that caliber IN HIS PRIME should never let a team lose a lead like that..that's when he needs to make an impact on either side of the floor, something he didn't do when his team needed him..

all in all, he hasn't had much success in the finals in general..

If Team USA is down by 1 point with 8 seconds to go and possession of the ball with a chance to win the Gold Medal, who do you think the game winning play will be drawn up for? Who do you think Team USA (Players and Staff) has confidence in to take and make the last shot? I'm going with Kobe every time. If there is someone who disagrees you have just not been paying attention. If Team USA is up by 1 who would you want to defend the opposing teams best perimeter player? These questions have obvious answers. Does Kobe have a problem with pressure? Not at all. Does he always succeed? No.

To be honest I rather give the ball to LeBron. The reason I would give LeBron the ball is because 1) He can get to the basket at will for an easy lay up/dunk 2) He's most likely to get free throws 3) He's a willing passer in the clutch as shown many times through out his career, therefore he'll find the open man who will most likely knock down the shot

Larry Bird's Celtics has been SWEPT, is it because he choke? Or you think the Bucks was flat out better team than his?
Again, is Kobe's Lakers better than KG, Pierce, Allen's Celtics?

Everybody is saying Kobe's performance in the final is always subpar, yet they didn't mention how Kobe performed in the Western Conference Final in the early 2000's when it was indeed the real NBA final because of some of the weakest ever Eastern team.

Youre right that hes been bad in the Finals...but he had to get there somehow....hes had some great series against the Kings, Twolves, Spurs..i dont think he has problems with pressure..Kobe in the regular season is the same as Kobe in the playoffs.

yeah i think this was SUCH a stupid comment to make... like you got pau for kitty litter and you even want to take THAT away from the grizz come on kobe... he used to be my favourite player but man stick up for yourself and your team... i dont know if hes just trying to lay low and make the sponsors happy by being quiet but i used to like that kobe whod stare you down if you effed up a defensive assignment and atleast show a little bit of emotion during the game... now it seems like hes just taking the high road 24/7... i think he needs to find that zone that mj used to be at where he'd be able to play both sides of the be cool when you need to and be pissed every other time card

btw kobe does not have problems playing with pressure... he just has small hands

Kobe has problem with pressure? I haven't seen anyone dealt with pressure better than Kobe. Who else has put on a dominant season as Kobe did in '04 as his life hanged in the balance due to some crazy hick from colorado. He would literally go to court hearings during the day and fly back to catch the game at night and still drop 40 to win the game. The man is INSANE in tuning everything out and just focusing on what's on hand. And his 2004 season performance proves that. Granted he fell short of a ring, but he had an overall god like year basketball wise.

And if you're using the Olympics as a measuring stick of his ability to handle pressure. Remember he's playing on tired legs. He hasn't had a break yet. His finger still needs surgery. Where Wade has basically had the whole season off so he's fresh, and lebron and melo have had some time to rest from the NBA season to now. Who would you HONESTLY rather have taking the final shot than Kobe?
