Great Argentina vs Greece game

Post#1 » by kooldude » Wed Aug 20, 2008 5:27 pm

Anyone else see it? It came down to the wire. Argentina had all 5 of its NBA players on the court in the end of the game and only won bc Greece missed a 3pter that could have won it for Greece.

I saw it. It was a great game, easily the most exciting of the olympics thus far. I love team USA, but the games aren't that exciting because we are just too good.

Having said that, Argentina barely beat Greece. What will they do vs the USA?

Very exiting game, loved it. It did show the beast and worst Argentina has to offer, they struggle with teams that play tough defense and are physical under the boards. If Team USA plays a physical game similar to what they did vs Spain, I expect Argentina to get massacred, otherwise they may hang for a bit longer.

I watched the game and I couldn't believe what Carlos Delfino was doing out there, dude was hitting some sick shots in the 4th. Jordanesque fadeaways and ****.

After watching what Delfino did today maybe he just never got enough playing time to really get comfortable in the NBA, cause average players don't make the plays he was making.

Don't read too much into this loss.....Greece was just saving their energy and strategy for the 2012 Olympics in London.

Nononononono. This was a tactical move to get some really favorable matchups for the 2010 WC!

Argentina couldn't miss from downtown. Spanoulis played horrible and we had some unnecessary turnovers that ended up biting us in the a**. And we still almost won.
Oh well, EuroBasket next year.
Argentina will lose by 20+ because they won't shoot much better than they did today.

Detroit absolutely screwed him. I was hoping he would break out sooner rather than later, and he still might, just not for an NBA franchise, unfortunately.

That said, Argentina is awesome to watch. I look forward to their next game, regardless of the inevitable results. Scola has been absolutely solid as of late.

Delfino got plenty of burn with the Raptors.

The problem with him is that he is extremely inconsistent and he hasn't met a shot he doesn't like.

There will be games where he goes 6/7 from 3 and looks like he should be the 6th man of the year. But, the next game he goes 0/7 and you just shake your head in disgust.

Even though this was funny, they did play differently than in preliminary rounds. More pick and roll, aggressiveness, and purposely looking for the outside shot. The differences were obvious.

As a Raptor fan, the odds are Delfino will not have another game like this. Hopefully he does though. I want more competitive games.

Those Jordan esque fadeaways are the reason why he can't shoot much better than 40% from the field at the NBA level.
