Strange situation: Is Deron Williams Doping?

So, this is just pure speculation, and I'm sorry that I started this thread outside of the Olympic thread, but just read, look, and tell me your thoughts on the situation.

Earlier today a Jazz fan on the Jazz forum posted a thread entitled "Who was Deron running at?" and it contains this link: (Fast forward to the end of the game at 1:53:35 in the video.

http://www.nbcolympics.com/video/player ... 008-195018

Well tonight I read this article:

http://sports.espn.go.com/oly/summer08/ ... lia-080820

And it states,

ESPN wrote: Deron Williams couldn't talk about the play of the night immediately after the game, because he was the Team USA player randomly selected to take a doping test afterward.

So I know this is pure speculation, but is it possible Deron Williams is trying to get into the locker room before the Olympic tester could get to him? And if so what is he hiding? It looks like in the video that Deron Williams is running from a Chinese Olympic Official that Carmelo is leading over too him.

What's the deal? Anyone have any more information on this?

i know it's just speculation, but he better not be, or else the integrity of USA basketball will forever be called into question...

I don't know, it does look like a weird situation. It does look like Carmelo lead an Olympic official to Deron and he just bolted off running. It looks like Lebron grabs Deron and stops him and both appear to be laughing (or at least Lebron does).

Seems like a big conclusion to jump to, but I'm sure some of the US haters on this forum will eat it up.

Considering Lebron (who got a hold on him), and Deron were laughing (at least smiling) during this "incident", imma have to say this speculation is pretty ludicrous.

my guess is, he ran away from the tester as a joke, ? But i dont really know what kind of personality Deron has

Well he is losing his hair, which is a sign of doping. That in combination with Chris Paul setting the bar so high for young PGs, it's definitely a possibility.

Looked like they were laughing when LeBron caught him, so yeah I doubt it.. Plus running away full speed with everyone around from the official probably wouldn't be the smartest idea if he was actually doping

I'm pretty sure they were all playing around.. you can see that the other teammates were making fun of Deron that he was the one chosen. And Deron has a playful attitude, so yeah...

and if I had to choose between all the players, I would "randomly" choose Dwight or Boozer :)

Besides, running away from an official doesn't do any good. It's not that the locker room saves him from being tested. He has to, no matter what, no matter where.
If he wouldn't have taken the test, he would have been labled as doped.

You do realize that you're not actually Kobe Bryant, right?

No way, what would doping do for basketball? Steroids are mostly used to increase indurance/speed or muscles type stuff. The ones I could see taking roids are the Jason Kidd/Brevin type athletes. Not a Williams.

Yah, good thing these things aren't needed in basketball...

I know obviously that was a huge jump in judgement, but I was just wondering what exactly was going on. No biggie.

Oh noes! Deron Williams is on dope! Strip them of their gold medals (that they haven't won yet but will).

lol Bat...

They do testings every two days in the olympics. Deron has probably been tested 4 times by now.

You crack me up!
