1996 Olympic Team vs 2008 Redeem Team

Post#1 » by cujolll » Sat Aug 23, 2008 7:16 pm

I know we have done threads regardin the Dream Team vs the Redeem Team, and personally I think the Redeem Team would would due to the youth and athleticism factor. But wat do you guys think of the Redeem Team vs the 96 Dream Team. Who wins or dominates and why.

There are too many greats on the 96 team. Their big men are better than the redeem team's by leaps and bounds. Dream team knows how to play help defense that would help contain Lebron and Wade, they're the only people that really cause matchup problems.

It's still the dream team.

96 Dream Team by far.

Bigs: Hakeem, Shaq, David Robinson, Karl Malone, Charles Barkley >>>>>>> Dwight, Bosh, Boozer

Point Guards: Payton, Stockton, Penny Hardaway >> Kidd, Paul, Deron

Wings: Pippen, Hill, Miller, Richmond < Kobe, LeBron, Wade, Melo, Prince

Other than wings, Redeem Team is no match for the 96 Team.

While the bigs weren't a weakness against international teams, they're definitely a weakness against the dream teams. 96 was the last team to really earn the name dream team, and their bigs might actually be better than 92.

The name itself should be a giveaway.

the other thread was about the 92 team.

The 96 team won by 32.3 ppg, this year's team is winning by 30 ppg against significantly better competition. We should bump that back up to closer to the 32 after tomorrow. It'd take a win of 46 points to exactly match the 96 team margin of victory.

I think the 08 team will rank a lot higher a decade from now than some people are ranking them today.

96 team. Their Bigs are significantly better.
