Duckworth passes away

Post#1 » by Roscoe Sheed » Tue Aug 26, 2008 3:57 pm

Just 44 years old! However, last time I saw him on TV (for some '90s Blazers reunion), he must have weighed nearly 500 pounds

Kevin had definately put on the pounds but as you listen to local talks shows this morning in Portland, you come to realize the big man had a heart that was just as big. One of the true class acts who did a ton of work in the community behind the scenes. People in their late 20's and early 30's are calling in with story after story of something he did for them when they were kids.

He died during a basketball camp he was helping with in a small town in Oregon. A huge loss for the community of Portland.

Good player, but a great man. He will be missed in the community for all the great work he did for the people of Portland as well as all of Oregon.

My God! What a shock! I was just watching the 1992 Bulls-Blazers Championship. Duck scored the first two points.

RIP.

Duck -- a very underrated player. Those Blazers teams he played for were terrifying. I still can't believe the Lakers beat them in 91. I remember how they'd play duck calls over the loudspeakers whenever he scored. RIP.

Very, very sad news.

He was a great man who spent much time helping the Portland community.

Wow, what a shock. Duckie rates as one of the most underrated 90s guys. RIP. :(

Truly a sad day. The Blazer teams he was a part of created many fond memories. The fact he loved Portland so much that he made his life here, and that he gave back so much to the community, is a testament to how much of a loss his sudden departure is to us.

Deepest condolences to his family and friends.

So sad, so young. I wonder if his weight had something to do with his death. Autopsy should determine the cause.

The NBA community mourns.

Man, this has been a really bad month for famous and semi-famous black people.

My Uncle knew him on a first name basis, so I had the pleasure of meeting him a few times away from the whole basketball scene. One of the nicest guys in the world and genuinely loved Portland and it's community.

R.I.P. Duck you will be missed.
