He was. I think that was the year he wanted to prove to everyone that he can lead alone but backfired.

We were a rebound away from the semifinals that year but Kwame let the ball go to Tim Thomas and instead of closing off, he went for the pump fake and the rest is history. That is one of the worst sequences in Laker history. Had we made it to the second round, we could have very well defeated the Clippers and ended up against the Mavs. I don't think I need to remind anyone what Kobe did to the Mavs that year.

I'm still pissed. I go to school in Arizona and all the Suns fans talk a lootttt of smack even though they don't know anything. When we were up 3-1 I was ecstatic and thought we actually had a chance to make the finals, and we did...but we didn't.

Could you imagine if we made it to the finals only 1 season after trading Shaq? We probably wouldn't have the team we have now though.

Kobe plays better when he is pissed off. When he has teammates that pick up the slack, he isn't forced to put as much pressure on himself as he would if he had to do everything for the team. As it stands, the Lakers have a solid team, so he can lay off the scowls a little.

Because he couldn't sleep around anymore. If a guy goes from getting laid whenever he wants to having to be a monk for a year, well, no mystery why he'd be resentful.

I don't see it as him being pissed off so much as he didn't have a lot of support and perhaps thought he could win simply on his own willpower.

but seriously, Kobe's a disgrace that season... he had an athletic 11ppg who could dunk and dribble between his legs and a Number ONE draft pick on his starting five along wit the son of one of the Top 50 players in NBA HISTORY (not to mention one of the best passing big men in the world).. not only that he had a combo 6-10 TEAM USA player who could play 5 positions... he had all of that and couldn't even make it out of the first round. With all that potential he should have at the very least made it to the Finals.

Kobe sucks. He's a bonafied loser I'd rather have Mike Miller who would've busted Boston's defense with his shooting.

Give me Mike Miller any day. His shooting will space the floor for Smush Parker to dominate the game.

I mean, how could you possibly not make it to the Finals with street legend Smush Parker, most skilled and do it all Lamar Odom, athletic and powerful Kwame Brown and super high IQ Luke Walton?

Who wouldn't have gone to the Finals and beat the Suns with that team? Only a team led by Kobe would not get passed the Suns that year. Sad.
