Elton Brown and Rod Benson

Why can't they crack an NBA regular season lineup when guys like Jamaal Magloire and Lorenzen Wright keep getting gigs. They supply the hustle and rebounds unlike those old stiffs.

There was a pretty interesting article about Rod Benson and the fact that he might be the most famous D-Leaguer due to his blog his keeping him out of the NBA.

GM's and coaches don't like celebrities, especially Celebs that work for the media.

Probably because GM's love old has-beens who they hope will recapture an inch of their past glory while with them.

They are also proven and GMs have a pretty good idea of what they're getting.

Teams aren't shying away from signing Benson because of his blog, if they really wanted him / he was really good enough to play in the NBA a team would sign him and if they didn't want him to blog would then ask him to stop blogging... Benson's no fool so obviously he would comply and that would be the end of that story.

I would understand veteran presence if it was provided by guys who can still play like PJ Brown, Mutombo, Antonio Davis (back in the day), even Juwan Howard. But Magloire and Wright?!!!

I know the Pacers have expressed interest in Elton Brown and are considering bringing him in for training camp. Rod Benson recently signed with a team in France. You can check out his blog on Yahoo!. I believe the team is the defending league champion for the French League, if that means anything.

I think it basically means that he has given up trying to hang around in the D-League to make an NBA club and has decided to go make some money overseas instead this year.

Brown is a beast...give that guy 20 minutes on the court in a real game for any team and he'll land a gig...
