The Pistons are rebuilding. Pistons traded their best player for an expiring contract. At this rate, they'll finish the season 38-44 and be a lotto team. Luckily, they own the Raptors and Wolves 2nd round picks and they are play just as horribly.

2009-2010 Pistons:
R. Stuckey
R. Hamilton/A. Afflalo
T. Prince
A. Johnson/J. Maxiell
K. Brown (PO)

with potentially 1 lotto pick and 3 early-mid 2nds with a **** of capspace.

Whoever thinks the Pistons aren't rebuilding are delusional.

Does this mean odom for TayTay is still a possibility?

^ Why do the Pistons need another expiring when they can keep Tayshaun for the next couple years on a nicer contract?

I see Dumars holding onto Stuckey, Rip, Tay, Afflalo, and Amir unless an unbelievable deal falls into his lap. Lamar Odom isn't an unbelievable deal.

I don't know that the AI experiment is officially over, but Curry's small experiment should be.

We need to give to either just give AI the ball and have everyone be ready for a kickout or garbage duty, or bench AI and let him tear up other teams reserves.

Anything is better than what we're doing now. It's been almost 10 years since our defense was this bad.

Naw, I've been a Piston fan for 20 years. I was there during the bad boy championships. I was there in the teal era. And I've been here for Joe Dumars reign as GM.

I believe in my team and will support them for as long as they are around, but I'm also a realist and call a mediocre team a mediocre team when I see one. The team isn't awful, but there are serious problems and there doesn't seem to be any interest in correcting them. At least this season.

Might as well watch the expiring contracts expire, develop the young guys, and rebuild. At least the team is in a good position to move forward. I'm hopeful for the long term.

This was news long before the Wiz game. As in, the day of the trade.

Who would the Pistons sign in 09 or 10 that would be better than Prince at the same price? They might as well trade away Stuckey for an expiring as well.

Can someone bookmark this for when the Pistons make the ECF for the umpteenth time in a couple months?

Dum, why cause he wanted to win.
The team had no talent and he was promised by the F.O that after Shaq left that the Lakers were going to add a few more talented players around him.
Oh lets look back and see how his trade demand worked out.
Made it to the Finals after he demanded.
Ya your right..........

What is your argument though, Montana?

Kobe didn't have faith in his team as it was constructed.

Liqourish doesn't have faith in his team as it is constructed.

That doesn't mean Liqourish is bailing on his team, he just has a realistic view that the Pistons right now aren't the same as the Pistons of old.

I don't know if I'm as down on the Pistons as you are, but it's nice to see some realism (but not suicidal tendencies) in a fan here. This is the second time this week that I've seen Tony Montana call someone out for not being a real fan because they don't have outrageously positive opinions on their team.

Again, someone doesn't have to be blind and stupid when it comes to something they support to the point that they can't see deficiencies as well, and maybe even see that the deficiencies are outweighing the good stuff. I guess that goes for more than just sports, too. There's a difference between being a fan and being a cheerleader.

That is an outstanding post and a great example for you more flippant posters and homers here!

The team was stale and needed a shakeup. Doing it so quickly in the beginning of a new coaching regime is the time to do it. There is still enough there to be a middle seed in the East and earning invaluable playoff experience for Stuckey, Affalo, Johnson and the others for when they land a Bosh or Amare or someone else in free agency once AI is gone and they are ready to win the East again.

I still have faith in AI and the Pistons.. It's all a matter of AI finally waking up and playing like the player he use to be. The one in relentless attack mode.. The season is still young, it's not like they haven't beaten some of the elite teams..

Bandwagon fan - Someone who will abandon his team at the first sign of losing

Fan - A realist, is ecstatic when winning, but knows things are bleak when losing begins to happen

Fanboi - Someone who thinks theyre team is perfect in every way and cant possibly have a fault, will often refute your claims with flawed logic and make themselves look incredibly stupid and homerish
