Agreed. AD has been injured all season but is just now starting to get back into shape. When he's healthy, he is one of the best backup point guards in the league. Very smart with the ball, an excellent slasher, good rebounder, good ft shooter, always among the league leaders in ast/to ratio, etc. He is a bad outside shooter but doesn't take many anyway. Keep in mind, though, that this is when he's healthy. I'm not sure if he'll be 100% this season, though he certainly may.

As for the Wizards, I'm not happy with the James for AD part of the trade. That just sucks, but I suppose Crittenton may flourish here in a few years. This is a trade that only time will tell if it's a success or failure.

Do you realize how Mike James is?

I can't believe the Wizards traded away the Grizzlies 1st round draft pick. Even if the pick was in 2013, there is probably a greater than 50% it will be a lottery pick. So the Wizards basically traded a lottery pick for Crittenton, who has been passed on by 2 teams already in less than 2 years. That's the biggest red flag if I ever saw one.

Restrictions on the Memphis Pick for JCN:
- Top-19 protected first round pick in 2008
- Top-16 protected pick in 2009
- Top-14 (lottery) protected pick from 2010-2012
- Top-12 protected pick in 2013
- If all else fails, in 2013, second-round pick and cash considerations

My understanding is that's wrong. Unless I'm wrong, if the pick still got protected in 2013 (top 12), Washington would have received the Grizz' 2nd round pick.

It was suggested on the Wiz board that Memphis' desire for the pick back was for CBA reasons - to give them back flexibility due to the fact that teams are not permitted to trade consecutive 1st round picks.

Edit - WizStorm beat me to it. :P

I guess the Wizards management don't think the Grizzlies will get out of the lottery. LOL.

Mike James is also signed for 2 years, making $6,049,400 this year, and $6,466,600 next year. Downgrading from Antonio Daniels to Mike James just to save $150,000/year? Even if they're in the luxury tax, that's a bit ridiculous.

Very wise Wizards poster nate33 pointed this out on the trade board:

The Grizzlies clearly did not want to take ANY salary back. In order for Washington to take on additional salary while over the cap, they either had to have a Traded Player Exception (which they didn't have), or send out salary so that they could take back 125% of that amount. James plus Crittenton came out to less than 125% of Daniels' salary, so it was legal.

(Now, were there other, less destructive ways of doing this? Who knows. But that's why the swap was in there...to facilitate an over-the-cap trade where another party refused to take back any salary. Not so much the tax avoidance.)

Makes more sense now.

Yeah, not unless they can convince Stern to put them in the Eastern Conference. And even then, get a legit big man. Gasol's bro would be a nice backup - but not a starter, and they've got munchkins for PFs.

LOLOL. You must not have seen Mike James... like ever.

I dunno what Washington is doing with the Mike James part, maybe they can convince him to opt out next year? who knows, but I like Critt a lot.

obinna says Mike James sucks. He isn't a PG or a SG. He is just a 6 foot basketball player who has outer body experiences that make him believe he his a #1 option.

Obinna is not Cliff Levingston.

Mike James now is worse than he ever been. At least before he was putting up good numbers that didn't help his team, now he's putting up terrible numbers and not helping his team.
