Will your team make a concerted effort to make a trade?

Post#1 » by Hemingway » Sun Dec 28, 2008 6:56 am

I'm wondering what teams are going to try and get a deal done before the deadline. Also, if you think your team tries to make a move, are they buyers or sellers? Typically there will be a few teams in the playoff hunt looking to buy some help and a few teams out of contention looking to sell some bloated contracts. Lets try to be realistic about this.

The celtics will likely look to be buyers in the predeadline market. If Ainge can not fill gaps and add more firepower with free agents, he will look to make a deal. About the only thing the celtics will likely look to offer is financial flexibility and players not in the rotation. There is probably an outside chance that Ainge looks to trade a more substantial player like Tony Allen, Powe or House in the right deal.

Blazers may be looking for a banger for back up PF, and/or a strong perimeter defender. I personally think something may happen but at the same time not be too surprised if nothing does.

i sure hope so...maybe Toronto can package something together to send to Golden State for Stephen Jackson...

right now i wouldnt mind that gun-toting crazy on my team, so long as he gets no more than 15 shots a game.

Thunder - I expect a few moves for sure. We are likely to get Krystic which makes a few of our bigs expendable.
We have picks and cap space and Need better 2 guard. Thunder will be active fo shizzle

Too bad they won't make the right move back to Seattle.

well we do have one of the biggest trading chips out there (wally), but apparently mike doesnt want to mess up the chemistry that is created at those post-game shower sessions, so we might be not trading...i sure hope we make a move tho

LOL at Paxson making a trade that isn't a salary/cancerous-player dump (J. Rose, Crawford, Curry, Chandler, Wallace, etc.). He has never made a trade with the purpose of adding a great player to the team, long-term.

Reports are that he's "making the concentrated effort", but his efforts seem to fall short (Garnett, Gasol). I would be really happy/surprised if he actually added a nice player to the team... Instead of just dumping Hinrich, Nocioni, Hughes, Noah... For the sake of getting rid of their contracts and/or personality.

Change that to yes. Most of the Cavalier community, hell the NBA community in general, are looking to see what we do with Wally's contract as it may very well make or break us. If we can get the final piece of the puzzle with Wally's trade chip, it puts us in even better contention to win it all.

For a site called Real GM you think we'd have someone from every team who could post their teams trade deadline ambitions.

Raptors better buy a swingman. I'm not a huge fan of Jax's contract extension, so someone like Mike Miller might work better. If at all possible, I'd like to see us move Bargnani in getting a SG.

Toronto... BOTH

Now Buyer - Looking for a swingman

Later Seller - If all else fails and we are not in a position, the selling of expiring Parker for something typically bench worthy on a regular team with a deal that has 1 more year + less money this year then Parker. Basically its an insentive for a playoff team to improve now with Parkers 3point shooting off bench. We save money, and dip below the lux tax threshold, and add a cheap bench player for next season, to minimize the hurt of signing inferior player this offseason for 2-3years.

The Cats are not likely to make a trade now as they have been improving steadily.
However,we're finding a 1st option for all-around SG.
Note:
1.Crash isn't on the block right now unless a sweet return is coming.

2.Okafor is a C.

3.We don't need McCurry.
