December 29th NBA Game Thread!

The Atlanta Hawks probably aren't looking forward to the end of their eight-game homestand and they likely were hoping to finish it without having to face Carmelo Anthony.

The Hawks look to win their fifth straight Monday when they host Anthony and the Denver Nuggets.

The Detroit Pistons didn't have any problems knocking the underdog Orlando Magic out of the playoffs the past two seasons.

The way they're playing right now, the Magic look like anything but a postseason long shot.

Poor defense is largely to blame for the New Jersey's struggles at the Izod Center. That's rarely been a problem for the Nets at home against the Chicago Bulls in recent years.

The Nets, who have remained competitive despite a poor record at the Izod Center, look to win their 14th straight home game versus the Bulls as the teams continue their season series Monday night.

With both teams coming off 22-win seasons, the Memphis Grizzlies and Minnesota Timberwolves were hoping to solidify their futures when they pulled off a late-night, blockbuster trade after last summer's draft.

Neither club has truly started to reap the benefits yet, but the early results have been significantly better for one of them.

Rookie scoring leader O.J. Mayo will hope to show the Timberwolves and their fans what they could have had when his Grizzlies visit a woeful Minnesota team on Monday.

The Phoenix Suns suffered a gut-wrenching loss in their latest game, watching a buzzer-beating 3-pointer wipe out what would have been an impressive victory.

A trip to Oklahoma City should bring back a more pleasant memory.

The Suns will look to get over their last-second Christmas loss on Monday night when they visit the Thunder, who blew a big fourth-quarter lead in their first meeting with Phoenix.

With two-thirds of their star trio battling injury, the Houston Rockets are trying to find a way to piece together victories.

That may not be very difficult on Monday, when the Rockets will try to extend their winning streaks both at home and against the lowly Washington Wizards to eight.

The Philadelphia 76ers have been without their leading scorer for the past four games, and Elton Brand isn't expected to return until mid-January.

The Utah Jazz, though, have even bigger problems.

The Jazz could face a third game in a row without their top three scorers on Monday when they host the 76ers, who are looking to avoid a fourth consecutive loss.

It's been a difficult road trip for the Toronto Raptors, but they have a good chance to end it on a high note against a team that's been playing even worse.

The Raptors look to salvage a split of their six-game road trip Monday when it concludes with a game against the Golden State Warriors.

Orlando by 5? I understand its a road game and Denver is coming off a back to back but I would be surprised to see the Nuggets lose this game.

Yes, every team loves to get called for more fouls at home than the visiting team. It gives them a distinct advantage.

Yeah, that wasn't a foul on Dwight. Love that home cooking.
