Melo's comments about KG a few years ago, anyone remember?

Post#1 » by JordansBulls » Tue Dec 30, 2008 3:54 pm

Anyone remember Carmelo's comments about Kevin Garnett a few years back?

I remember seeing something where Melo made a comment on how he wouldn't be like Garnett and take 10 years to make it out of the 1st round. Now I am not sure if it was in an article or if it was an interview, but I clearly remember something like that. Does anyone else remember that?

you're misquoting him and the context, he said "I don't want to be like Kevin Garnett and take eight years to get out of the first round"

it wasn't a knock, it was him frustrated after getting bounced by the Clippers in the first round in '06

Melo should have said something about T-Mac---at least its a safer bet, compared to Garnett :D

the difference btw kg and melo was how they played in those playoff series.

for the most part, kg played really well. but it just wasn't enough against other teams, sometimes loaded teams.

melo tends to suck it up in the playoffs. he doesn't even look like he enjoys it, and he presses way too damn much. he was disgraceful last season against the lakers. i recall him telling the press that his whole team, coach karl and he himself quit during game 3...

why tell that to the press? you are only fueling the negative press about you and making it easier for the Lakers to finish your sorry team. not a bright kid sometimes.

i doubt he loses this year though.

Melo played superbly against the Spurs two years ago - as well as anybody did all postseason, more or less. 26.8 / 8.6 / 1.2 on .480 / .500 / .795.

Not sure what more you want against an elite defense than that...?

He played horribly last year BUT he still produced: 22.5/9.5/2.0 on bad percentages.

Not really fair to say he's been horrible in the playoffs, he certainly hasn't been great but he's been good - and that series against the Spurs was great.

Back on topic - his comments certainly weren't meant as a slam on KG, they were completely sincere... he wants to win in the playoffs.
