Did Boston burn themselves out?

Post#1 » by DASMACKDOWN » Thu Jan 8, 2009 4:15 am

Ok 2 weeks ago they were practically invincible. They won 19 straight, had the best start in NBA history and were straight stomping down their opponents.

Fast forward to Christmas and the Lakers beat them. Ok fine, Lakers are a great team. They were geared up to beat the Celtics. Acceptible.

But the very next night losing to half a Golden State team was sort of a red flag. Ok maybe thats luck.

Portland? Some say they got screwed but Portland did outplay them that game.

The Knicks? This is where the worries began.

Then the Bobcats...ok its getting scarey.

and now losing to half a struggling Rockets team with no Battier and no Tmac at home.

What is going on here?

Did Boston burn themselves out already? They sure look old now and really fast.

They need to do something fast about their bench because they are starting to look like the old Miami Heat team of 06/07.

i know its still early, but this is obviously a legit concern.

It's a matter of swag my friend and the Celtics are currently swagless.

That was one cocky basketball team, and I think they are just coming back down to earth thats all.

Honestly, losing games like these probably make them more dangerous later on as much as I hate to say it. The Pistons lost to some really bad teams the 2 years we went to the finals.

I remember losing to Antoine Walker led Hawks by 30 in one game in jan. 05. Antoine Walker made 2 half court shots before halftime to beat the buzzer. It was absolutely disgusting and laughable. Then they started stomping people from April on. Until Robert Horry came along.

Well, at least we aren't Cleveland... seriously... Indians, Cavs, Browns... ouch.

True, but the Pistons werent exactly an old team then and they had plenty of bench help.

We are talking about the big 3 here who have had alot of miles on those tires. They basically get nothing from their bench. So in times like this when they dont have it, you need someone to hold the right the ship.

Its funny but this would be the second time James Posey has left his former team hurting for him. Boston hasnt stopped talking about Posey ever since he left. He was that important.

as corny as it sounds, they are swagless right now.

nah thats just the excuse they are using, teams just found a way to beat them.

The Celtics ain't the perfect team tho, they lack shooting and a bench... it's just that we completely forgot about it during that streak

I honestly think, is not that they are wearing themselves out. Yes that is a factor that they are an old team, but I think like what the guy D.J Augustin said, that Boston tryes to punk you out, but if you take their shot, they are not as tough.

I think a lot of people are tired of how arrogant the Celtics are, a team like Spurs, Lakers with Shaq, even the Bulls with Jordan when about their business in the regular season, most teams just caved in, but the fact all these teams had class, no one really besides a couple teams, when out their way to prove them wrong.

People say Garnett is getting in players head. I actually think all his taunting has just awoken scrub teams, to actually play hard. Boston are going to get a lot of teams best shot. Is the fact they are so arrogant, kind will wake up many teams, that usually don't play hard. So in a way, they will probably get worn out.

A team like the Spurs just takes care of business without all the extra curricular stuff.

I wouldnt say they are totally classless. I think its probably more KG and maybe Perkins who are the biggest culprits. KG has always been that type of character but dont know when the intensity starting turning to total disrespect.

People are overreacting as always.

Celtics will be fine but they won't win the title again. :)

Agree with that, but I hope everyone is right.
