The Kobe Step Through

I see people always talking about Lebron's crab dribble. I haven't heard people talk about Kobe's move where he picks up his dribble then pivots around for a while, then does a huge step through, takes off on the opposite foot (clearly picking up his pivot foot) and gets an easy little layup or 10 foot shot. The refs never call it but it looks really obvious. Anybody else notice this? It bothers me. The defender doesn't even appear to complain but it looks like a blatant travel.

As long as he leaves with both feet simultaneously, it's not a travel. That's an extremely common post move for all players, actually.

Yes, you're right. I've noticed that too. He does it a lot. Pretty much every time I watch a Lakers game he travels at least once and just never gets called for it.

Yes Stern and the NBA just hate Lebron, so unfair

please, Lebron gets away with his share of violations every single game. Palming, traveling, fouls

Watch Kobe's feet, he doesn't travel on that move. Kobe has tremendous footwork ala Hakeem.

You can pick up your pivot foot as long as it doesn't come back down. Derrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

95% of the time, he's not blatantly shuffling feet and taking extra steps so they aren't going to call it too often.

Oh... I know which move you're talking about the one that's not a travel that Kobe drops in against your favorite team all the time right Saggy?

17 posts in and you're already RealGM's top hater.

(Please Use More Appropriate Word), he has already used his dribble, he steps through and takes off on the foot that is closest to the basket. It's an obvious travel. Both feet are not close to leaving the floor at the same time. I like watching the Lakers and the Cavs. RealGM's biggest hater? Okay you're right, Kobe never travels. Ya got me.

go to the 1:25 mark to see the move in question:

It looks like a travel to me, but it is very similar to the up and under move guys do in the post, when Kobe does it it is just so out in the wide open that it looks worse. Anyways, apparently it is not a travel since they allow him to do it, so what can you do?

Traveling and palming the ball are the two most violated rules in the NBA and since they (the refs) choose not to enforce it, more power to the players. Actually, the game would be kind of boring if they called every infraction.
