Duncan's best seasons:

2003
2002
2007
2001
2005
2004
2006
1999

Garnett's best seasons:

2004
2003
2005
2001
2008
2006
2002
2007

My list:

1. 2003 Duncan - I think it's reasonably close, but Duncan was better player on both ends of the floor to me.
2. 2002 Duncan - same as with 2003.
3. 2004 Garnett - this one was very impressive, even more so than 2007 Duncan.
4. 2003 Garnett - basically identical season to 2004, only with shorter postseason run.

5. 2007 Duncan - the most complete season left, monster impact throughout the whole season.
6. 2001 Duncan - it was quite a carryjob from Duncan, KG might be just as impactful but I'm more impressed with Duncan's postseason work.
7. 2005 Duncan - I struggle with 2005 comparison, because KG's impact just doesn't look consistent in that season. Meanwhile, Duncan has been amazing in the RS and his postseason gets underrated because of some bad shooting nights. Missed games make it close though.
8. 2005 Garnett - that's how I see it, Garnett was still close to his peak self in that season.

9. 2001 Garnett - very underrated season, played great against SAS in the first round as well.
10. 2004 Duncan - could be higher, but combination of missed games and weak performance against the Lakers downgraded its value.
11. 2008 Garnett - this one is as close as it gets, I decided to go with more conventional choice. I don't think KG was better per ability than 2006 Duncan, but he was a bit more steady impact-wise throughout the season. Timmy is close though.
12. 2006 Duncan

My list would look like 70sfan's basically.

I'd put 2008 Garnett at 9th instead and drop 2001 KG to 11th, but it'd be the same order otherwise.

I thought about putting 06 Duncan higher, because he was a monster in the playoffs. But his RS TS% is -10% compared to his playoffs on a much larger sample size. So I have a hard time evaluating that season.

always fascinated by 2005 Duncan and 2005 Garnett

It's not controversial to say that they still were the two best players in the NBA, but they both were overshadowed by several players under the spotlight.
It reminds me a lot those seasons where Curry and Lebron didn't get much consideration as MVP despite being the two best.

03 Duncan
02 Duncan
07 Duncan
04 Garnett
08 Garnett
05 Duncan
05 Garnett
03 Garnett
04 Duncan
06 Duncan
01 Duncan
99 Duncan

I put significant weight on the playoffs, especially winning a title, which shows clearly here.

You should, analysis of a season should include the playoffs and those results. Too many of Garnett's seasons ended in the 1st round....
