The 1990 suns outscored the blazers by 5.7 points a game. Lost

1996 utah outscored seattle by 3 points a game and lost

2002 kings actually outscored lakers by the smallest margin (0.3 points)

2005 pistons actually outscored spurs by a couple points in the finals

2008 cleveland actually outscored 2008 celtics by half a point

2009 NBA finals(LAL vs ORL)
2011 Celtics vs heat second round
2011 Heat vs Bulls ECF

2009 Orlando Magic had a darn good chance to win. If I recall, Courtney Lee had somewhat of an open layup in game 2; unfortunately, he blew what could have been a game winner after Hedo blocked Kobe and immediately called timeout. Game 4, Fisher came in with 2 clutch threes to (one game tying and one game sealing) that put the series to rest.

They had a really good chance to be 3-1, but it is what it is.

The 2000 Lakers were outscored by the Blazers and Pacers in the playoffs too!

Most people dont realize how much the 2000 and 2002 rings were a grind for lakers, unusual for a dinasty team

The contrast with 2001 absolute domination is startling

Slightly off.
733-700. 33 point margin, still very large for a losing side but not 7x6 (it was a 3-4 loss).
