You're top 3 ATM are probably

Mitchell
Booker
Jaylen

I think Jaylen can score with both of them as the #1 guy but because he splits shots with Jayson Tatum, his doesn't look as lethal.

I'm not saying definitely that he's better than those guys, but at a minimum I think he is in the same tier.

I agree. It’s not clear cut like the previous era where Harden was definitively number 1. I don’t think either of these guys are definitively better than each other.

Bird would have won 4 rings with that team, in this weak ass era of basketball.

I'm glad you see it that way because. a lot of people on this board think those guys are way ahead.

I'd probably give all 3 a 92 in NBA 2K just based on how good they are playing this season.

He's also the best defensive player by far.

I don't know if he's the best, but there's an argument.

JB gets underrated because of Tatum and the fact that he can’t dribble. But end of the say, he’s effective at what he does and is a great defender. We haven’t seen him in a number 1 option role over a long period of time so I could understand why someone might rate Mitch or Book higher. Honestly after reevaluating, I’ll take Jimmy over all of them for the time being

Actually... is he? I was looking at some BPM stats of the SGs above Brown.

SGA (+)
Mitchell (+)
Booker (+)
Beal (~)
White (-)
Herro (-)

I guess you can argue fourth best reasonably. BPM can be flawed, but in general, it paints a good picture of how much impact a player has on his team. The obvious one that shouldn't be is Derrick White, but other than that, I think these hold true.

Looking at how some of these guys rate in EPM at the moment:

1. Donovan Mitchell +5.6
2. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander +5.5
3. Devin Booker +4.8
4. Desmond Bane +4.2
5. Jaylen Brown +3.8

I didn't include Harden, Butler and George because while arguably SG, they are more seen as point guard or small forwards respectively. However, all of them are also ahead of Brown (George +5, Butler +4.8, Harden +4.5).

Brown is definitely among the top shooting guards but he doesn't have that strong of a case to be the best imo. Especially considering most of these guys are leading teams offensively, while Brown plays on the most stacked team in the league alongside a MVP candidate in Tatum as well.

I have a hard time putting him on that level, his lack of individual creation ability is a pretty massive flaw compared to some of these guys. Remember against Miami how he struggled to get into the paint without being stripped?

Very solid supporting player but compared to these other guys (well at least Booker, SGA and Mitchell) he'd absolutely struggle massively leading offense.

Picking on Brown for how he struggled against Miami can very easily be countered by picking the series where Booker and Mitchell have struggled offensively - not to mention the countless times they've been picked on defensively.

The other two players are far from being flawless either, clearly. But I think it's hard to compare the shortcomings of the other guys when they recently have played in far less optimal situations. Maybe Brown is a far more ideal guy for his situation than either of the two others have been, and that's a plus for him, but in a vacuum I have a hard time thinking Brown is better than all of these other guys.

He's the best 2nd tier shooting guard in the NBA

1. He is hybrid of SG/SF, but looks more SF for me.
2. Shai could be by far the best SG. He has it all

A defence
B play making
C scoring
D shooting
