Elton Brand is underrated and not often mentioned in comparison to great PFs. He was on a bad Clippers team for years. His 2006 season was his best:
RS - 79gms, 24.7pts, 10reb, 2.5blk, 116OR, 100DR, 26.5PER, 58TS%, 5.5dws, 14.8ws, .229ws/48, 6.7bpm
PS - 12gms, 25.6pts, 10.3reb, 2.6blk, 122OR, 106DR, 26.4PER, 59TS%, 227ws/48, 7.2bpm
Playoffs r2 vs Phoenix, 7 gms (Marion Suns PF) - 30.9pts, 10.4reb, 4.3ast, 1stl, 3.1blk, 62.8TS%, 134OR, 114DR
How good was this season from Brand and where does it rate among PFs post merger?

During the 06 season I really felt Dirk was the best PF in the game.
Brand was battling with Duncan and KG for the second best PF in the NBA. He was a top 10 guy that season. I still remember how money his mid range jumper was.
It really was tragic how his career unfolded, IMO dude would have been a hall of famer if he never got injured. He was an automatic 20/10 every single night.

I agree. Nowitzki had his best season in 2006I think. Brand looked like he was certainly going to be a hofer.

Great season and probably just below the top guys. I'd definitely take Duncan, KG, Dirk, Giannis, Malone, AD, Barkley and McHale over him. Pretty sure I'd take Dray over him too although that comparison isn't as straightforward with their vastly different roles. Maybe I'm forgetting someone but I do think he's probably ahead of guys like Kemp, Pau and Webber.

He had more high level opponents at his position than Davis and that makes his best season look even better in that regard.

It's post merger, otherwise yeah for sure. Dolph Schayes as well. Maybe guys like Heinsohn, Jerry Lucas, Hayes.

Maybe, but 2020 AD was the 2nd or 3rd best player in the league. Brand didn't really come anywhere near that.

Maybe, but 2020 AD was the 2nd or 3rd best player in the league. Brand didn't really come anywhere near that.
He wouldn't have been the second best in Brand's era. Duncan, Garnett, Nowitzki and Kobe, at least, would be considered better.

Depends on the season. If we're talking about 06, which was Brand's best year, not all of those guys had better seasons than 2020 AD back then.
