Watching si better. Dirk never had superstar talent around him and managed to take his team farther than KG. The one time KG did, he had Pierce and Allen and in an inferior conference.

Dirk over KG any era.

Era or no era....Whats really going to change? KG other than his one MVP wasn't even leading above average much less elite defenses in his Minnesota prime.

Dirk played with a variety of casts the '00s and his teams were still truly elite offenses.

What about outside of Minnesota? Why doesn't that count?

Got thrown a lifesaver in 07-08 and then proceeded to win his only title in arguably the most underwhelming title run of any team in NBA history.

All that talent alongside him spared KG from the ridicule Dirk got in 07 vs GS. Could barely beat a 37-45 team.

Count me unimpressed.

You thought defensively they were stacked but Dirk did not play with offensively talented teammates every year of his career?

I hope you don't think that just because Dirk did not play with superstars that his teammates were not offensive slanted. The argument that the Timberwolves were never a great defense doesn't make that much sense given they were a good offense yet you're not giving Garnett credit for that either?

Essentially whether Garnett's teams do well offensively or defensively, I reckon you're not "impressed". I don't think it has much to do with Garnett's ability at all.

I don't even know what the 07 Warriors has to do with anything but you do realize that KG has never been upset before - pointing out that his team struggled against a mediocre team in 2008 but somehow not realizing that they greatly overachieved in 2010 and 2012 seems rather bias. Or maybe you did not know that the Celtics did have an elite defense post 2008.

Non-3 point shooters benefit more from being surrounded by 3 point shooting teammates than 3 point shooters benefit from being surrounded by 3 point shooters. Dirk’s shooting was more valuable in his own time than it would be now because in his own time good outside shooters were more scarce.

KG would benefit from being surrounded by outsde shooters. KG would score better in the paint if the help defenders were guarding somebody at the 3 point line. KG was a good enough passer to find open 3 point shooters.

KG was better than Dirk in their time and would be more better than Dirk now.

Dirk to KG is like Luka to Tatum, except Dirk was on the better team side. It is really whether you think the edge on D can offset the O.

My man was shooting 53% from mid-range on 9 attempts per game and 40% from 3 in 2011, imagine how hyper efficient he'd be in a 5-out offence with mismatches being exploited and such. His defence would be concerning though. Imagine him having to defend Giannis or Zion in space.

KG would be 2016 Draymond on steroids though so I'm taking him.

I dont think Dirk's scoring(and perhaps more importantly off-ball creation) isn't nearly as valuable in an era with an abundance of super-sized shooting talent. Again, raw production scaling up means little inofitself.
